Now that I'm back on my computer I have a few more. I actually have a playlist on iTunes with all my sad songs. Sorry if some of these were already mentioned:
Radiohead - How I Made My Millions
Elliott Smith - Needle In the Hay
Dave Matthews Band - Crash Into Me
The Watchmen - No Longer Mine
John Lennon - Imagine
Bruce Springsteen - Secret Garden (not so much sad, but really mellow)
OLP - Julia (piano)
BNL - Call and Answer
Verve Pipe - Freshmen
Sarah McClachlan - Angel
Des'ree - Kissing You (from Romeo & Juliet. The Leo one)
Kinda embarrased I even listen to this song. Oh well. Not my typical style.
Those are all over the map in style, but all pretty mellow and sad.

i forgot some of the best ones. something corporate is one of those 'even our happy songs make you want to burst into tears' bands for me. letters to noelle, walking by, konstantine, ben franklin's kite, caldecott tunnel, cavanaugh park, heroine..all good.
there's something about andrew's voice and that dang piano that make you want to cry like a kid that ran into a fence.
...uh. bad comparison, eh?

Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.
And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

The Freshmen is the most amazing song. The lead singer of Verve Pipe and the lead singer of Sponge are doing an acoustic set here, and I will be there. It will be amazing to hear The Freshmen acoustic.
Welcome to the board.
Welcome to the board.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.
U2 - I still haven't found what I'm looking for
The Beatles - For No One

Counting Crows - Raining in Baltimore
Edward Scissorhands theme
Dar Williams - After All
Dar Williams - The Ballad of Mary Magdalene

Eels - Dead of Winter
Elton John - Candle in the Wind (original version; the Princess Di version makes me want to kill something)
Elvis Costello & Brian Eno - My Dark Life
Eric Clapton - Tears in Heaven
Five For Fighting - Superman (but if you tell anyone that that crapfest gets me EVERY TIME, I'll wallop ya)
Glen Phillips - Train Wreck
Glen Phillips - Darkest Hour
Great Big Sea - From I Love You
Hello From Waveland - Trains and Earthquakes
John Mayer - Comfortable

"Amazing Grace"
OLP - Thief
Peter Gabriel - I Grieve
REM - Why Not Smile (I think this may be the best song ever recorded)
Rufus Wainwright - Hallelujah (it's a cover, but it's better than the original)
Simon and Garfunkel - Silent Night/Seven O'Clock News

Soul Asylum - Fearless Leader
Toad the Wet Sprocket - Windmills
