Post by Clumsythief »

Just wondering what are your favorite Christmas songs.

Mine are:

Happy Xmas (war is over)
O Holy Night
Silent Night

I like away in a manager, and jingle bell rock.

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever

Poor Dommy. Bring a discman with you and listen to that. Just have it in one ear so you can listen to it, and tune the rest out.

Traditional:
Oh Holy Night [Apocalyptica does an amazing version of this]
Carol of the Bells

Not-so Traditional:
John Lennon & Yoko Ono - Happy Xmas (War Is Over)
Maroon 5 - Happy Xmas (War Is Over)
U2 - Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)
No Doubt - Oi To The World
The Vandals - Oi To The World
Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You [...... oh what? :P Shut up, it's good.]
Jon Bon Jovi - Please Come Home For Christmas
Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band - Merry Christmas Baby

I could go on for a while... but I'll stop.

I don't know that one :(

I like:
John and Yoko and everyone else - Happy Xmas (War Is Over) - Delta Goodrem did an amazing version of this on CD:UK at the weekend.
Greg Lake - I Believe in Father Christmas
Chris de Burgh - A Spaceman Came Travelling
Carols: In The Bleak Midwinter
It Came Upon The Midnight Clear
And how could I forget the wonderful Slade with Merry Christmas Everybody
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

If I hear that song one more time I think it may just tempt me to gouge my eyes out with spoons

Anyway, some of my favorites...

Happy X-mas (War Is Over)
Bizare Christmas Incident - Ben Folds
Back Door Santa - (done by a bunch of blues artists, I'm not sure who the original artist was...the BB King version is excellent though!)

:::troy:::
:::troy:::

Brutus is an honorable man
It's just coincidence that oil men will wage war in an oil rich land
And this one goes out to my man taking cover in the trenches with a gun in his hand
Then gets home and no one flinches when he can't feed his fam...

But Brutus is an honorable man...

It's funny how different your Christmas songs are over there. :freak: I've heard of... three of those. "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)", "It Came Upon The Midnight Clear", and the Slade song... but I only know the Slade song because Noel Gallagher covered it... I'd never heard of it before that.
