do yourself a favor and listen to it. do yourself a bigger favor and buy the cd on august 24.
we are the brand new beatniks. we are the down and outers.
we are the bleeding hearts, beating syncopated, broken rhythm.
our speed is often break neck. we need to slow it down.
tired of being sleepless. tired of being broken.

Hmmm, August 24. I think I'll be buying the new one from Guided By Voices that day. Not to mention it's their last album before they break up.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

Thanks for posting, I'm downloading it now! I can't wait for the release of the album. I have their full length plus the 3 EPs and am a huge fan. I hope they do a headlining tour after the release. I was talking with some people who got an advance copy of the whole album and they said it was awesome. I think some of them even said it was better than "Shakedown!"...WOW!

Brutus is an honorable man
It's just coincidence that oil men will wage war in an oil rich land
And this one goes out to my man taking cover in the trenches with a gun in his hand
Then gets home and no one flinches when he can't feed his fam...

But Brutus is an honorable man...

they are coheadlinging with the aka's in july and august. i'm heading out to two of the shows hopefully. if this song is an overall indication, i think this cd will be at least twice as good as shakedown.

Yeah, this song is great! I don't know if I'd say it's better than the stuff on Shakedown! but it's easily just as good. I can't wait for Aug 24th.

i understand. i like shakedown a lot, obviously, but it's a lot poppier and often more mellow and doesn't capture the energy of the live show. the dvs ep and this new song are darker, louder, and heavier as i imagine the entire new cd will be and i'm pretty stoked about that. my favorite song on shakedown is her song and i feel that one is a litter darker than rest. i guess i'm partial to that kind of stuff. but yeah, totally stoked for its release. hot rod circuit comes out the same day. another winner.

I picked up the CD last night and am loving it so far. Right now, my favorites are "A Thousand Years" "Dead End Queen" and "Christian, Christian" but it seems like the type of album where my favorite tracks will change as I listen to it more. I remember the first time I heard "Like Days" I liked it, but not nearly as much as I did after repeated listenings. As much as I like the rest of the CD now, I'm hoping it grows on me even more (and I'm thinking it will).

I heard it was supposed to have some bonus videos on the cd or something. I haven't seen that yet. It's now at the last track in my CD player, so maybe I'll check out the enhanced portion right after this song.

Awesome CD

I watched the enhanced portion and it was pretty good. It was a nice little slice from their experience making the album. Also, I don't usually like dogs (I'm more of a cat person myself) but I have to admit, Eno is cute!

The name of the song above is "Like Days." Also try to d/l "Christian, Christian" if you can, or "Dead End Queen" but really any song you would pick from them is great. Make sure you buy the album if you like it, it's called "Initiation."

i imagine most of the cds you want to buy aren't any good, so definitely go for this one first. you can get their ep for $5 from nitro records, pick it up too.

i doubt anyone cares but the lead singer is vegan :D
she just did an interview with peta about it

little things like that about bands amuse me :)

"You mentioned that you have companion animals. How many do you have? What are their names?"

"I have a small Chihuahua, and his name’s Ino, and he goes on tour with us everywhere. He’s great, he sings on our records. He’s on the first record, and he’s on our new record. He’s a good little singer. He usually gets his own track. He got his own track at the end of our first album, and he got his own track at the end this album as well. This one’s a little more hardcore; last time he was kind of crooning, now he’s screaming."
