If I were to introduce a friend to OLP...

What do you think would be a good introduction? I have several friends who I plan to show OLP to. But you know... some songs are not as good unless you know the band... or something...

Anyway, any suggestions?

to be honest, if you want to get them to listen right off the bat, anything from naveed or clumsy would be a good intro. jumpstarting them into olp from happiness, sm, or gravity just isn't a good idea, imo. you have to understand olp's music more before listening to them.

i'd have him/her listen to the first five songs from clumsy. you get a bit of everything in there.

Yea make them listen to as many songs as possible
I turned one of my friends into a fan by telling her to download "life" first, then suggested some more things to download, then i got her clumsy for her birthday, which she loved.

I started my friend out with Clumsy, and tried to work Naveed into her brain. she never liked it

But she listens to SM everyday. For the first 3 songs I would say Supermans Dead, 4 am, and then Right Behind You(Mafia)....

Good luck if they have preconceived notions because of gravity. I gave up a long time ago because even when I do throw things at them and even when they listen and even when they admit they like it, they cringe away in disgust knowing it's OLP.

intoduce the starseed and naveed to them, along with clumsy and superman's dead, those are the early friendly songs, don't dare have them listen to gravity first, you have to let them experiene the growth of OLp up to their decline. because if you have them listen to Bring Back tHe sun before Superman's dead you expect something completely different

A friend recommened Superman's Dead to me.

Seemed to work for me.

Don't try to force OLP on them, though. If it doesn't click with them, it just doesn't click.

I downloaded a bunch of songs to try them, but my album obtaining went like this:

Clumsy
Happiness...
Naveed
SM

I had trouble deciding whether to buy Naveed or SM, but I got Naveed first because I wanted to learn the guitar riffs. :nod:

If I were you, I'd just take them to a show. I've taken a total of ten people and all of them, even if they didn't like rock music, liked at least two songs played. And then I play one of the CDs as we drive home.

But you can't really do that right now cause they're not on tour.
