Who's Your Vote-Daddy?

Post by Neil »

So....latest issue of Rolling Stone (Prince graces the cover) has an interesting political article. It talks about "out of state" college students who are more 'n more getting denied the right to register to vote.

Even though they are "out of state" students, I believe there is a federal law that allows them to still register to vote in the state that they attend school, but more 'n more its becoming clear that they are being denied.

Funnily enough.....the numbers I keep hearing show that the majority of college level humans seem to favor Kerry over Bush.

I had a roommate from California who had absentee ballots sent to her when they were doing their governor thing. (She refuses to tell anyone who she voted for.) She did get called on for jury duty, though. I don't remember how she got out of it.

Register in your own state and fill out your ballot in the comfort of your cramped dorm room. You don't wanna deal with the lines and other bullshit anyway.

Anyway, I think the majority of intelligent beings favour Kerry over Bush. Oops, did I say that out loud?

I didnt say Bush doesnt lie. Go ahead open up a TIME magizine. I believe every other week they support a different candidate. 2 weeks ago they had a list of every thing Kerry said, and he was contradicting himself. Such as ...
"I think that SUV's are horrible and they suck up gas" - Kerry's family has a fleet of SUV's

He claims that he wants to tax the wealthy so that the middle class can get a break. - Isn't he married to Theresa Heinz????

The one that really gets me and it was on the news this morning, Kerry - "Rumsfeld should resign. But it's not only Rumsfeld fault, I know there are others out there that should be blamed for this. Only I have no evidence."
How stupid can he be?
Yannic, you don't even live in the U.S. How are you to decide what goes on and who lies in the U.S.? Not once, did I say that Bush doesn't lie. It just so happens that the democratic party never tells the whole story, or they decide to make up things as they go.

a) :wtf: a little harsh?

b) no politician ever tells the whole story.. if that's a hit against the democrats, it's sure enough a hit against anyone.

c) even if kerry might not be the the best man for the job, Bush hasn't been sparkling too brightly.

Neil... that's a good insight. i wouldnt doubt bush's party is behind it in some way or another.

Exactly Brett, I wouldn't be the LEAST bit surprised if "Camp Bush" had something to do with this. A kid in Utica got denied a freakin RIGHT to register to vote because they claimed being an "out of state" dormed student has no legal right.

C'mon now....

And Joanne....I never knew you to be political. But I'm sorry if you're seriously that blind to think that Kerry is the only liar.

Bottom line is that "Camp Bush" has fucked our country, fucked us right up the ass. Bush has not only fucked our assholes bloody, but has put us now into a record high deficit of 45.96 freakin BILLION dollars.

Hope you don't want your kids to go to college.....cuz we won't be able to afford to pay the tuition.

Ahh, so now Canadians can't have an opinion about the American politics that are shoved just as much in our faces as they are in yours.

Kerry is a liar. Bush is a liar. Politicians lie. The problem here is that people are expecting some knight in white armour to come riding out of the gloom and swipe the US off its feet. Guess what? This is politics! That doesn't happen! It's not a matter of who is a liar and who isn't, it's about who's got the policies that you believe in, and that you can most trust.

And all this stuff about Kerry lying about trivial things like SUVs is rediculous. Who gives a damn about his opinion on SUVs? Maybe he owns a bunch, enjoys driving them, but hates that they chug the gas. Maybe he was even joking around about them.

This is all rediculous...

This does not make him a liar. Certianly it makes him appear hypocritical, but despite owning them it could be his opinion. I own a nissan, but i hate nissan the motor company. does this make me a liar?

Why does this make him stupid? In the field of police work, cops often have suspects but no EVIDENCE. Are they stupid too?

So does every party. Welcome to political reality. My suggestion is to quit voting.

Exactly. My mother hates Fords, specifically *because* she owns one, and swears she will never buy one again. But she *would* buy an SUV because she's a soccer mom, and she thinks minivans are ugly. There's a project for the auto industry... building fuel-efficient minivans that look like SUVs.

And I never said Kerry was the shining new light of democracy, just that I thought people should favour him over Bush.

Speaking of not telling the whole story... how about that ad where Kerry is voting against bulletproof vests for the troops, among other things? They kinda forgot to note it was one all-encompassing vote over an $80 million package. But that's ok, right?

I'm only 15, I can't vote yet.I think I know the political reality, it's basically a big scam. Everyone lies. I totally understand that, but I don't support Kerry and his big lying ass. Okay, # 2 : Theresa Heinz is among the wealthy women of America. After seeing the Sarah Heinz house (that Theresa is residing in), I think that Kerry should watch the hell out as to what he talks about. I mean the house takes up a huge chunk of Pittsburgh property and has like 4, 2-story guest houses.

Another thing, a week ago my friend sent me an email with pictures of Anti-Bush bumper stickers. They were funny, but I was mad because you can't start argueing politics, people get in fights like this one. I told her that I was a supporter of Bush and she was like "I hate Bush, if I were 18 I would vote Kerry". I went on and asked "Why do you hate Bush? Give me 3 legit reasons," She said " He lies, he's stupid, he cant give speeches without that stupid accent".
This is what kills me. Some people have no idea why they hate Bush (not everyone, but some). Most of the people, I've talked to, they said they hated Bush for starting a war. That not a good enough reason in my view.
Before I get really pissed, I'm done in here. Kerry makes me want to puke.

This is what pisses me off: "Bush: not my president". When Clinton was president, I hated him, I disagreed with him, but he was my president. If Kerry wins, even if it is close and "a total lie", he will still be my president. As far as I see it, Democrats hate America.

George is the one that doesn't believe in your nations holiest document......no not the bible.

Bush didn't even win that election! He shits all over American rights, gives tax cuts to teh rich, kills thosands of innocents, kills hundreds of his own. Puts you in the worst deficit yet, and the right wings are supposed to be GOOD AT MAKING MONEY. He also referrs to our PM as Prime Minister Poutine. He's been caught drinking and driving. He believes that state and church should not be seperate. The list goes on....

who is bad for america?
