PPU

Post by lemonphile4 »

I was cleaning out my desk drawers and I found an old PPU mailing. I'm not sure about the date, but I'm guessing fall 2000. It was the fan issue or whatever and there's a whole bunch of posts from the CC and fan poems and such. A lot of good memories.

Is there a site where they have old PPU issues? There should be.

I still wonder to this day what the HELL the Media Play stores were offering if you bought SM from them.

I already head it......so I didn't buy another one to see what the free bonus cd was.

Anybody know?

did you get the IMAGINE single?. I know people said they didn't get either.
the last thing I got from them was the letter from GLOBSON and the Our Lady Peace poem lamented.
I did get the RBY single. I know from when I joined(in97) I got the video tape with the OLP poem read by sol and holiday greetings

the singles for Julia(piano) Imagine and RBY
I got the Happiness Postcards as I called them and about 6 newsetters
plus the posters, t-shirt( when renewed) and signed photo. I gave away the t-shirt(2nd time) , photo and poster.

I owe alot to the PPU. They were very instrumental in my seeing OLP in Canada on the World's A Blister tour   ( happey tears)

Oh The memories. I think they were one of the better fan clubs, but I think the Happiness and SM CD's brought alot of fans for a small operation. I was in the 500's I think-when the PPU shut down there were well over 11oo fans I think.

The only thing I know you got with SM (if you bought it in the US) was a live CD. It was Car Crash and Clumsy from the CLub Tour. In Canada you got the OLP togue when you bought it. Unfortunately I bought my CD in Canada too early fot the touge( I did win one off ebay for $5.00) and my friends worked in a record store and gave me the llive cd.

with Gravity you got a live CD also. I can't remember the songs on it. I think it was Whatever, Starseed, Naveed and 4AM. I don't remember because Igot alot of OLP CD singles from overseas and that stuff is on there also.

I actually waited almost 1 year before joining. I joined only cause there was no press down here, nothing on the radio. It was the only way I would get info on the band. I am glad I did join.(hugs her membership card  )

I owe alot to the PPU, and Much Music for helping me stay updated on OLP. This was way before I got on line or anything like that.

I am too. . .
When I first started becoming enough of a fan to go online and stuff I was just about to join it. . . but then I realized that every single site I went to that mentioned it hadn't been updated since pre-gravity. . . then I read on olp.net that it was dead. :crying:

olp.net sort of took over for the PPU. It was suppose to be the on-line fan club. That is why it came out around the Gravity Era.

When the band is on tour, .net usually stays up to date. I'm sure when the next album drops, Stace will have some cool stuff on there. *hugs Stace*

I know there isn't much to put on there right now. But it'd be cool if there was a new calendar or something. It's all right though.

"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.
