Most Likely to Drop Life and Tour with the Band

Post by nikki4982 »

Hah, the full title of the award wouldn't fit as the title of the thread... so, it's...

Hey Nikki
I don't have a license( not lisence-where's ALEX when we need her?) That's what buses, trains and planes are for. I hate to think how many other shows I would of gone to if I drove.(aske Stace and Tanya-they did alot of driving to shows) Just one word of advise. Be prepared to have strangers walking up to you because you are *KNOWN* Oh wait you get that now

Since you are following the band now, you can be part of the EAST COAST POSSE(what we affectionally called ourselves, although some have gone on to greener pastures). No matter where OLP played on the East Coast(from Canada to DC) one of us would show up at the show. IT's almost like you can give messages to the band through one another. Now all you have to do is work on the band getting to know you.

You can be my protege cause I said after a certain amount of shows and locations I was taking a break from all of this. Thing is none of the fans who know me or even the band believe me. It is so weird to me.

Here is something you will find amusing. A few years back I made a comment to Raine that the PPU should gvie out free cd's for every 1000 miles you clocked in seeing the band. He laughed and said that will work. I also joked with one of my friends in 2000. I said I should just tour with OLP for a year and document it. I was going to call it * A YEAR IN THE LIFE OF OLP ON THE ROAD-THROUGH THE EYES OF THE FANS*-funny thing is for the gravity tour I did feel like I was on tour with them, and what is even funnier is something like that did come out. The Gravity DVD has some interviews with the fans while the regular DVD has interviews with the band. I do however have an OLP journal from the shows. Every once in awhile I look through some of the things I wrote. YOu forget some of the things that have happened do it is nice to have it written down somewhere.

Alot of you do got me beat though. When I was 17-20 years old. I wasn't following anyone around. I didn't start till I was about 23. First band I followed was Duran Duran.

By the way. I voted for you  - YOu know the old saying. It's great just to be nominated. I don't care about winning. Yeah right. I laugh when I read that. If you didn't care about winning-you wouldn't work hard to have something submitted for nomination.

I am on a break now. Actually after England I said I was cutting back. I didn't really go to many shows last year. The Trailer Park Tour was the first major Canadian Tour I didn't go up for in years, and I didn't travel as much as I use to when they played with 3DD.

Even this upcoming tour(when it happens) I am only going to local shows, and maybe New Orleans if they played. My friend and I have a pact to see OLP in New Orleans together next time they play.(she lives down south)

I also said once I hit a certain number of shows i was stopping. I made this statement years ago. I wasn't expecting to see that many in a short time. But they played the USA alot for Gravity. They played alot of North East dates. I don't know where you live, but it is easier to get around the North East of USA then it is between the Provinces.

My friend Leslie said to me in 2000, that's it's only a matter of time before I saw OLP in Europe. I told her I don't know about that. Crossing the border is one thing. I know people who go to Canada all the time for shows( not just OLP-but other bands or for sport games) ALthough Idid come close to going over in 1999, and I just missed them by a few weeks in 1998-when I was in London on vacation so maybe it was destine. When they played in the Fall of 02' I was able to go because I had a free plane ticket and had some one to stay with so it worked out to my advantage.Seeing them in Paris will always be special to me. It was a big thrill seeing them in a place where English isn't the main language(although there are places in Canada with large French populations) It really was amazing to see these kids singing the songs off Gravity and the older songs. Outside of Canada you'd be lucky if you hear OLP on the radio or see their videos. Yeah SOT was a success for them here, but it is a rare thing for me to hear OLP on the radio where I live(NYC) or see them on MTV.

This band has a large fan base by word of mouth and boards like this one.

I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again

Hahaha, yeah, that's where the "no money" part of my statement comes in. ;)

Hahah, I don't really get it yet... only people I've already met or know from online (and am purposefully meeting up with) have ever really said "hi". Plus all the random friends I make at concerts. *always makes buddies at concerts* Hehe. It'll be fun for someone to randomly recognize me from on here or the CC or whatever, though. :D *loves meeting people*
