Hello Oskar and Mike Eisenstein

Post by hpdfk »

In Hello Oskar, there is a lyric "over there, he's a superstar, a taximan and a young Eisenstein"

I don't know if OLP knew Mike E in the Clumsy era, but does anyone know if the lyric has anything to do with him?

Mike E rocks! They put his name in that song because Mike E kicks @$$! Woot!

Other than that, I'm guessing it is pure coincidence.

Yeah, it's probably about the director Eisenstein, since he's far more legendary than Mike E.

Thanks for that Stace - it saved me from having to post something along the lines of 'there's a guy called Eisenstein who's got something to do with a film about a big battleship' :D
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

I did not know Mike E was in Letters to Cleo
Mainly because I do not know much about Letters to Cleo
Now I know he has some background as a musician.

Whoah!
Connection in my brain. OLP toured with letters to cleo. Letters to cleo made 3 albums in their 10 year career. They were all in the later half too. That means that that when they were beginning and young they were probably frustrated with their musical direction, explaining the lack of albums. I think Hello Oskar is about a tormented frustrated person so a young frustrated Mike E would make sense.
