The Official 2004 State of the Union Address thread...

So here we go.
Some of us enjoy hearing Bush speak so we can laugh at him, while others enjoy hearing him so they can follow his strong words. Either way the time has come for his annual grand speech. Recent years have produced such fantastic moments as the "Axis of Evil", "the imminent threat of WMD's in Iraq" and the unforgettable, "You're either with us, or against us."
So to kick it off I figured I would post recent news from yahoo, about the upcoming speech. Enjoy.

"Bush, when asked by ABC's Diane Sawyer why he said Iraq had weapons of mass destruction when intelligence pointed more to the possibility Hussein would obtain such weapons, dismissed the question: "So, what's the difference?""
whether your behind the republican party and the war or not, this is NOT a man you want in office again. He's embarrasing your country, and has turned youf rom a much respected nation into a not-so private joke. Vote someone else who can bring some honor, respect and credibility to your nation

Yeah, but the leading Democratic nominee is Howard Dean. If he gets into office, we might not have Bush, but we'll still be fucked. His health care plan is going to fuck the economy and we'll end up in the same rut for 4 years.
And in no way am I endorsing or supporting Bush. Never.

Yeah, I don't plan on voting Bush unless Dean is the Democratic candidate. I'm on the fence with Clark also. I would like to see either Kerry, Lieberman, and there was one other, but I forget the name. But there is no way I could ever support Dean.

i'm voting for the guy who has the best chance to get out bush. i think everyone who dislikes bush should do the same, and not vote for perot types.

Yeah, I used to be in the same mindset as you, but look at the facts. Howard Dean would be just as bad as Bush. Sure, he wouldn't set up mindless wars, but he'll still rape the economy just as badly as Bush has.
Just look into Howard Dean. Look at his promises and policies, then think about how bad the country will end up being. That might be enough to make you rethink that voting about whomever will take out Bush idea.
And I want to see Clark get the nomination. I figure a real war mind with no political experience would actually work for four years here. We need him to bail us out of the shit Bush has us knee-deep in, not to mention he seems like he'd be a risk-taker and not let his think tank sway decisions. That could be great, or fuck us over big time.
With all that said, if Dean gets the nomination, I'm voting Green.

I wouldn't mind seeing Clark get the nod as well.
I wonder whats more popular... a vote against Bush or a vote for him. No opposite candidate, simply a "do you want bush as president? question" think he'd get 50%? I don't know.

I don't think he'd get 50%. That's my honest belief. There are people out there that actually don't want him as president, as well as those mindless folk that just say whatever's the popular national sentiment, so he wouldn't get 50%.
Now, if you put him up against a candidate, that's a different question. Bush would probably win, especially up against Dean. It's pretty sad if you think about it. A good chunk of people here don't like Bush, but most of them wouldnt do anything about it.

hmm the question is, would you vote Dean to make sure bush didn't get back in Alan? We've aready tried one idiot, even if dean is one too, why not try a new one?

No matter who wins people will deem him an "idiot" and bitch about him non stop. So the question is who do you want to diagree with and moan and groan about next. Also, wouldn't it be great if the Green party could become a serious contender?

Haha, Lukin... that is soooo true.

yeah at least in Canada we have THREE parties to choose from, although the NDP won't win the federal election for at least few more decades. They do consistantly win provicial elections, and still manage to get many of their ideas stolen by the liberals

still this year there's an election in canada as well, and i'll be walking down to the polls for the first time to waste my vote on the NDP, as most good honet manitobans do........to bad the election is called before we even reach the polls...........sounds fair to me..........damn wetern alienation.

Heh, I forgot you were legal now. Have you seen 'matt good on canadian politics?' That pretty much sums it up.
I wonder who's gonna win the conservative leadership race. Having good oposition is always a good thing

don't vote at all. you think it really makes a difference which one of those yahoo's gets into office? honestly, anarchist politics aside, is any one of those jackoff's going to do the country any good at all?
i mean, sure, you vote democrat to get rid of bush, but then do you know what you have in office? *shudder*, a democrat. ugh.
really, do you want one of those looney-tune motherfuckers calling the shots anymore then gw?

I'd rather not vote. See, if it came down to either Dean or Bush, I think I'd rather take Bush. Again, by no means will I ever support them, and I can't wait for when Bush dies because I'll know he'll be rotting in hell, but I think he's the lesser of two evils.
With Dean, his ideas seem all fine and dandy to the retarded voter, but his policies are horrible. The economy will be in worse shape than it already is, and well, we'd all be having rought times, to say the least.
Even though Bush is a totalitarian asshole that lies to his people, the wars he's fighting will start fixing the economy. I guess that's the best I can say about the two.

i found it funny how he called the people in Iraq "thugs"...just not a word a president should use in my opinion
