Lots of material

27 new songs that they're working from!! So hopefully, they'll choose more than ten for the album.

I know that over the last year they have played new songs. I wonder if they will do like they did with SM-you got to hear some songs when they were in the studio. I do agree, they should put say about 6-10 on-line and have apoll on what 2-3 songs the fans, *US* want on the CD.

I also agree with releasing more then one CD, or say 18 tracks on one. They could also realease say a 10 track cd( all new songs we haven't heard) and a have it come with a bonus cd( the songs they played live last year) now that will work for me.

However, a higher quantity of quality songs would be nice :) .

I have a feeling there will be more than 10, but i doubt we'll see more than 15. Just because very few bands have more than 15 songs on a cd, and as we know OLP always like putting the best of the best on their cds. Hopefully we will somehow get hold of the other 10+ songs they are 'working with' though.

A double album would be nice.... *dreams*

The chances of that ever happening are slim to none though. Record company's these days dont seem to be all about double albums.

If they have that much material, they should actually release them as b-sides on the CD singles for once.

you know what else they can do(this seems to be a big trend with music people now). Release songs on the website. Look at the Foo Fighters. you can only get their version of Darling NIkki on their site. Either way I am glad that they have been busy liitle bees. Who knows maybe Raine had(what did he call it a few years back) Writers Diarrhea

Well this is good...

You can't write 27 songs about the topics on Gravity :P

So I'm sure lyrically (and musically) it should be more advanced.

After all, this is their biggest gap between albums since Clumsy - Happiness.

They've had time.

I wonder what they will do with the leftovers :freak:

Honestly, I just want a 10-15 song album.

There's such a thing as too much. I think a long album would suck. As fun as the new stuff might be, it doesn't have the wholeness that their first four albums had. Happiness... and SM could have made amazing double albums. I just think the new stuff (while enjoyable) is going to be a little more empty.

Exactly, too much is sometimes no good. Songs get lost when there are too many. It kind of takes away from each song when there are so many.

We'll get 12 songs, tops. Then after that, the other 25 songs will just disappear, like that mysterious 11th song on Spiritual Machines that we've never heard. And when OLP does their annual cash in during the summer, the new album will be re-released with a couple of those new songs, then re-re-released with a couple other ones. Sadly enough, that's the best case scenario with hearing more than, at most, 12 new songs this year.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

For anyone who's too lazy to head over to the CC and find it (and since it's not up on olp.cc yet), here's Kruno's full post:

BOAT (BOAT7) wrote:Hello out there!

I have some news for all of you...

Miro and I spent Monday afternoon with a friend of ours... you might know him... his name is Jeremy and he plays drums for a band called Our Lady Peace.

The news is that Jeremy was nice enough to let us preview some new OLP songs... let me tell you... the evolution of this band- I can't put it into words... clips of 2 of the songs are played on the OLP Holiday Greeting (available on the hub and www.ourladypeace.net) "Don't Ask Why" and "Not Afraid." The clips sound great, but the entire songs (in their present form) are incredible!

All the songs we heard (4 all together) sounded very raw, but it's a sound that anyone can truly Love. I don't think I've ever heard OLP sound so honest, and so good- and the songs are unfinished!Unfortunately I didn't catch the names of the other 2 songs, but I haven't heard them before... one of them is very mellow sounding, and the other more rockin'. They are not "walking in circles" or "wipe that smile off your face" (2 songs they were playing while wrapping up their last tour.)

"Not Afraid" has come a long way since what we've all heard at the Juno Awards... the lyrics are very different and really good. Jeremy told me the song will probably make the album (I know that makes a lot of you very happy.)

The 4 songs we heard were among 27 (if I remember correctly) currently in the works... if the other songs sound nearly as good as what Miro and I have heard- we'll be hearing one AWESOME album. Honestly.

OLP return to the studio in LA today (Wednesday) to continue their work on some kickass songs.

Jeremy, if you're reading this... thanks again for everything.

Yay for mucho grande OLP material!
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.
