Office Space

Post by Axtech »

I made this thread for two reasons.

1. It is arguably one of the greatest movies EVER.

2. I have a little story about it from today...

Here's my story.

We were in philosophy class, and my teacher was talking about the computer Deep Blue (which, we all know, beat Gary Kasparov, the world chess champion, in a regulation tournament). He was saying that it was roughly the size of a U-Haul truck. So, he proceeded to draw a U-Haul truck on the board ( :freak: ). He then drew this big star shaped thing near the back of it, and said "You know how all those U-Haul trucks now have this uh ... flair at the back?" And I immediately said "Haha. You have 15 pieces of flair. That's the minimum." Mr Lalonde turned to me and yelled "THANK YOU! ... Everyone, if you haven't, go out and rent Office Space as soon as possible."
Then, later on, we were talking about AI and how it may one day take over (man, I was loaded for this conversation) and someone said something about how a stapler that automatically stapled would never be programed to staple people to hurt them. So Mr Lalonde picked up a stapler and started hiting himself with it and screaming "Ahh! Attack of the staplers!" as the laughter died down and he set down the stapler, I of course said "I... I believe you have my stapler..."

Good times...

Whenever death may surprise us,
let it be welcome
if our battle cry has reached even one receptive ear
and another hand reaches out to take up our arms.

www.bullshitjob.com

that's a funny site. and the two are somewhat related.

my office space experience:

now that our agency has expanded, i have one (1) additional boss and a "privacy wall" between me and the next desk.

i can't wait to get the bullshit memo's and go to the bullshit meetings.

I have 9 bosses. And I get different spreadsheets and memos to look over every hour. And I only work at a fucking Best Buy.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

Seriously, it's so much fun working there though. For all intents and purposes, I work at a record store. I love it. I just don't like having someone different tell me what I should be doing each day, considering that it contradicts what I was told to do the previous day.

I didn't plan on much talking. Isn't that kind of hard whilst playing tonsil hockey?

Not if you use your tounge to morse-code-tap the name of the other person on the teeth of the person you're making out with. Easy as pie. Pie I say, pie.
