Each member's best song?

Post by ihatethunderbay »

So, which OLP song do you guys think is the best for each member?

Personally, I think some of Jeremy's best drumming is on The Story of 100 Aisles, and Duncan's damn good on IAH?.

So.. Whadda you guys think?

...I probably could've rephrased this whole thing to make it easier to understand..but... meh.

I agree with you Johnathon, about Steve. When I say them live, his Neon Crossing was kickass

The one greatest song for all of them is one man army. Jeremy's drums do the craziest beats, and listen to the part during "overlooked, unfit appearence." You'll find the drumming is phenomenol. Mike's (or steve's) guitar? Absolutely beautiful. Raine's lyrics and voice are both faultless in it, and the bass is all over the place! It's one of the songs where i turn up the bass lots because it has so much presence! Anyways, one man army. It's the perfect song.
Don't ask questions, just accept it.

I'm suprised that One Man Army didn't have the same presence or impact that Superman's Dead did, that is truly one of OLP's true "gems".

It was too complicated for the simple minded fools of the world to fully appreciate, so it didn't make it.

I haven't heard any of the new songs so I'm replacing Steve with Mike for this.

Raine - Car Crash (falsettos galore)

Mike - Naveed (drool-worthy by any standard)

Duncan - Happiness & The Fish or Everyone's A Junkie (sure Car Crash has a delicious bass line, but it's not that impressive; H&TF and EAJ's bass lines are extremely impressive pieces of works and catchy as hell)

Jer - can't say, haven't payed anough attention to drums at all in songs until recently. :oops:
Just because I am sexy, naked, a bassist, and sporting a top hat doesn't make me Duncan Coutts!

Raine - The Wonderful Future

Mike - Naveed (I think Steve's better, but Mike owns him on Naveed)

Duncan - One Man Army (I knew I loved this song when I would sing the bassline instead of the words :nod: )

Jeremy - The Story of 100 Aisles

Steve - Starseed (with all due respect to Mike, Steve makes Mike's Starseed sound like "Taps")

Raine - All My Friends (his voice is just incredible on here)

Duncan - Car Crash (no surprise there)

Steve - not enough

Jeremy - this is tough... he's awesome on alot of stuff. I like him on 4am, Story of 100 aisles, birdman, one man army

mike - big dumb rocket

In relation to this thread, only lately have I discovered the joy of listening specifically to only one member's role in each song... my god, it's like experiencing OLP all over again. And once again to praise OMA, not only is it an exciting song but its a musical masterpiece.... the layers...all perfectly in sync with one another...one kick ass melody :drool:

Jeremy = One Man Army

Mike = Every single song

Steve = Can't judge yet, no studio albums

Raine = The Wonderful Future

Duncan = I feel dirty for saying this, but Life. I mean, the runs and rhythm to the song make me want to play the bass like him all the time.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

This thread is making me wanna listen to every single song you guys listed, and pay attention to that particular band member's part... darn it. That's time consuming! :lol:

And, Alan, I agree with you on "Life"... I thought I was the only one to think that about the bassline. :thumbs:
