When OLP Are Gone, What Song Will They Be Remembered By?

Post by Baby Thief »

They have so many classic songs... but which one do you think they will forever be remembered by?

Every band has their classic song. What's OLP's?

I personally think that it is Superman's Dead. Have they gone one show without playing this song since it came out?

Superman's Dead or Starseed...

Even though you could make the case for Clumsy and 4am also

how the hell can Julia, a song that was never even released as a single, be their "legacy" song?

Somewhere Out There.

Come on. Unless OLP hits another top 40 single, they're going to be marked as a one hit wonder, and all those 14 year olds will only be able to say that OLP song. It sucks, but hey, if you're not form Canada, odds are that's what people will remember.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

I'd say, by the mass market, "Clumsy".

By me personally, it'll be "4am", "Theif", "Stealing Babies", and "Are You Sad?"
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

America's will be "Somewhere Out There"

For just me, I'd say "Naveed" or "Are You Sad?"

I'd have to say, for me, its the fact that I never got to hear them freakin cover "With Or Without You" even if the cover was pretty shitty

Not really.......I'd say "Naveed" and "RBY Mafia" for me, personally.

I am thinking Supermans Dead. That is what most Canadians know them for.
I would hate to think that they will be remembered for Somewhere out There. Even other singles like IAH and In Repair and so much better.

For me - it'll always be 4am and superman's dead.

Superman's dead got me into them, 4am made me stay.

I still get chills down my spine whenever i hear the opening chord to 4am.

Incredible!

I've gotta agree. One of the singles off Clumsy will be the biggest in Canada since that is their best known album here.

Somewhere Out There will unfortunately be their legacy in the US unless the next album has a Top 40 hit.

Which it damn well better. We know the new stuff is different from Gravity and if they have a really big hit I will be soo happy.

Yeah, personally, I think the radio listening community here in Detroit/Windsor would either remember Clumsy or Thief. Those two songs still get frequent airplay here on the radio. That's damn impressive, considering one of the songs wasn't even a commercial hit.
