Didn't Want To Make Many Threads...

Post by Baby Thief »

So Here's A Bunch of Stuff I Want To Say:

Ok, i just listened to Kurzweil And Molly for the first time in a long time. I've just realised how incredible it is. It is just such a clear example of OLP's intellectaul ideas. The track is just haunting and is just incredible! Is there anyway to just have a single track of just Kurzweil and Molly instead of seeking through the Wonderful Future to hear it?

Also, I've been thinking... Is it anyway possible that OLP would be willing to bring an orchestra with them on toru some time? Just think of Stealing Babies, 4am, Starseed, Bring Back The Sun, and Naveed with an orchestra!? I really think they should look into that. Seriously, would anyone of us here even think of missing out on hearing one of the greatest modern day bands live with an orchestra?

And, i've been reading the reviews of some of the OLP concerts and alot of them say something about Superman's Dead being sung differently at the end. Do we have a bootleg of this?

Thanks

Those are Ray Kurzweil's ideas, not OLP's. That's some dialogue taken straight from his book The Age of Spiritual Machines (which SM was based on).

There's no way to hear it separately unless you want to rip and split the file.

That would be great, but OLP's going for a "rawer" sound now adays, so it just isn't going to happen. :(

And don't be shy about making threads. The more the better (as long as they're not just repeats).

First off other bands have done the orchestra thing...Metallica and Tea Party to name a couple. It's been done and really people would just think they're attempting to copy Metallica, especially after going to Bob Rock and refering to Metallica albums as inspiration.

Secondly, I don't think it would come off very good. It just doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

Thirdly, I would not call OLP one of the greatest modern day bands... They're good but no where near the greatest.

am I the only one who thinks it wouldn't be a good idea?

I think they need to do a small venue tour or something.
The 3DD was pretty big, it would be nice to play to smaller audiences.

Yeah, a club tour would be sweet. Then maybe people can actually request a song!

Oh. Sorry, i didn't know the last track was Kurzweil's. (but i knew he was speaking) And do you know if how i could get a ripped version? Because i would much rather have it as a seperate track than seraching through the wonderful future. I am not advanced enough in my computer skills to rip it by myself, so if anyone has it ripped and all, please tell me and share!

And I am surprised someone here wouldn't like the whole orchestra thing. Everyone is copying someone else nowadays. Just because another band did something doesn't mean that OLP can't do the same. I would kill to hear 'Are You Sad' or '4am' with an orchestra.

I wouldnt really want the orchestra for a number of reasons and none involve not wanting to hear it.
For one, ticket prices would go up. And not a lot of us have lots of money to burn.
Two, they would only play big ampitheaters and shit, and therefore I would miss it.
Three, I can't really imagine what the orchesta would do during supermans dead and what not. Most of their songs are perfect with one or two guitars, and the band would be useless.

I think that they should re-release some singles with an orchestra (like are you sad, and 4am, and somewhere out there....wait. nevermind) and that way we would all be happy.

They could do a mini-mini-tour with an orchestra, and just play the tunes that would work with one. i.e. Wondeful future, 4am, etc.
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

Since Gravity came out I always wanted to hear BBTS with an orchestra mix. Tht would be cool. I actually had a dream with that song being done like that.

Personally, I absolutely love that idea. I've always thought that bands adding orchestras to their songs sounds amazing, and I think it'd work quite well for OLP on the right songs. They should just do a one time concert with an orchestra in Toronto... and only sell tickets to fans through the mailing list or something. It's fun to dream, eh?

Yup, I got it on the Pittsburgh boot! Come on the hub and grab it. It's "2003-08-15 - Chevrolet Amphitheatre - Pittsburgh, PA, USA". Mmm... Pittsburgh...
