Evanescence And Linkin Park

Post by Baby Thief »

Do you believe that they are in the same music genre?

We are having this argument on the LP boards.

They have very different sounds when you listen to them but they are both an alternative rock sorta thing so they are in the same genra

same stuff basically, just that one uses a female singer, also LP makes bigger use of the rap. LP is harder too, but i would still put them pretty close to each other

I think the Evanescence album is really good...I was worried they were a one single wonder (did I just make that up) but it really impressed me

See, I like about four songs off Evansescance, but all in all it is really pretty boring. LP's albums are both better, and they perform better. As far as catergory...I'd say they're in the same genre, but it's not like they are really that alike.

I have 2 LP albums and the Evanescence album and I think I prefer LP .. Though Amy does have a beautiful voice .. she's very dark and morbid and her songs make me want to kill myself so I haven't listened to her in awhile.

I'd say they're probably in the same genre too.. they are really different though.. I hear a lot of both 'cause 5 of my friends are obsessed with LP and my sister is really into Evanescance. I must say they're both really great.. Faint is the coolest and Hello is amazering..(And I play it on Piano so that makes it specialer :D ) yeah... so anyway I think I just totally lost the point of this post, but that's ok...

I'd say they're in the same genre. Sure, they have different sounds, but similar enough to be considered at least similar. Although I like Evanescence better, I do like both bands.

Oh, as a side-note, at the record store I work in we have LP and Evanescence in 2 seperate categories. Evanescence in "Rock/Pop/R&B" (quite a broad category, isn't it? ) and LP is in metal. I wouldn't exactly call either band "metal" but when they (the record store) put Tenacious D (2 guys with acoustic guitars) in metal, you never know what to expect. I'm betting that with the Tenacious D thing they didn't even listen to the album...they just saw the advisory and figured it had to be either rap or metal, but since the guys are white it had to be metal

That "side-note" ended up quite a bit longer than the main part of my post

I really don't like genres and crap but what i've heard of each sounds pretty much the same, so I'd say so. I don't like either of them, though.

Meteora is a kick-ass cd.........I used to think they wouldn't be able to out-do their debut album, but I definitely think Meteora is kick ass.

meteora is a kick ass album, but i dont think it out-did hybrid theory. second albums are hard to make and barely ever better than the first. i bet the third will be better though.

Hybrid Theory WAS definitely a great album. I'm not trying to sound like I"m bragging, but I bought the CD even before "One Step Closer" finally broke as a single. I got it at Targer in their "new artist" section for only 7.99, and a buncha my friends who saw the CD in my car were like "who the hell are they??" and the like.

 and look at them now! I always feel like I actually found an artist and got my friends to listen to them before they blew up. While I have always thought Hybrid Theory would be hard to beat......I guess the more and more I listened to Meteora after it came out, the more and more I realized I liked this one even more. There is only one track that I don't care for on Meteora and thats the instrumental.
