9/11 Anniversary
Tomorrow as many of you may know, is the 2nd anniversary of 9/11. It may just be the most important, significant world event that may happen in our lives. I just wanted to make this post in honor of the people that died and all the search and rescue crew who saved so many lives.
What are your thoughts on 9/11, and where were you when you found out?

Guy: We're in the hallway, always at half past nine.
Girl: Would he ever get to know me? Would he take the time?

I was at school and I found out about it when I went home for lunch. I couldnt believe it. Then later that day my grandma died (she wasnt in the buildings or anything, she died of natural causes).

I'm really sorry to hear that
It must have been really hard to learn such a horrible thing happened in the world, and then someone close to you dies.

i was in my room watching MTV (of all stations) and my friend beth (i just met her at the time) knocks on my door and she is upset and tells me to turn on the news and i saw what happened. we just stood there in shock. she started crying because her cousin worked in the WTC and she didn't know if he was alive or not. i was really scared for her. turned out that he got out and ran all the way home to brooklyn after the first plane hit, but it was really scary.
Back then, i didn't know what the world trade center was. I thought that long island was a city too.
we had a vigil here at school and i went. it was very sad and somber. I still have the ribbon that i got from there on my bookbag
i went to the vigil last year and i'll go to this one again

Thank you Doug and Susan. At least I am not the only one here that realizes that it's in the past and innocent people are still dying because of it two years after the fact.
It was a tragedy when it happened, and yes, it was unfortunate, but let's face the facts people, it happened two years ago. There has to be a point where we get over it. We can't act all sad and pretend we care about the government one day of the year every year.
All this will become is another "national holiday" like D-Day, a day where America was forewarned about a Japanese attack and we did nothing about it. (Wow, wasn't America forewarned about the 9-11 attack?) Nowadays, we ignore the fact that we dropped bombs on Japan, even though they offered their surrender days before we went in and dropped them, but that doesn't matter. And I can't help but realize that America will ignore the fact that we went in and attacked Afghanistan because we believed that was where Osama bin-Laden was at. So in both cases, we killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people because we let other people attack us, even though we clearly knew we were to be attacked.
Honestly, I am sick of hearing about this. People died. It was sad. I feel bad for their families. It was unfortunate that it happened. It's time to move on. The end.

I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

I understand that it was the past and that we shouldn't keep dwelling on what happened, however, don't you think that we can look back and remember those who died, just like any other memorial holiday. And it isnt about the American government......

5,000 people died in one day in America. We turn around and start killing innocent people in retaliation, even two years after it happened. So, tell me how this is any different from what happened to us? We kill people that don't deserve to die, so why should I feel bad that 5,000 Americans died in attack we were warned about?

Thanks marissa. That's how some people cope. They talk about it and remember the people who died. Are you going to tell the families of the people who died to get over it, it was two years ago? Let's not turn this thread into another one against the US government for crying out loud. It is about an event, plain and simple. If you don't like it, then fine sit on your thumbs and leave the people alone that are still sensitive about what happened.

It's unfortunate those people died. What else can I say? We're sending people to countries they couldn't point out on a map to "stand guard" at gates and get killed by people with car bombs. We're adding to the death count of Americans because of 9-11, no one else is. We are. This is why I don't feel bad about what happened. America has made the conscious decision to have young Americans die because people died in the past. It's asenine.

I wish you wouldn't say anything at all unfortunately I have no control over that. Listen, someone merely brought up the anniversary of 9/11. There was no need to start spouting off your limited knowledge of military actions made that have no relation whatsoever to the topic at hand. Why can't you just leave it alone?

good point corey. just as he said, this shouldn't be a thread against the US. YES, I also feel bad for all the children and innocent people who died in Iraq, and the reason it isn't publicized so much is because our TV News stations aren't exaclty on the Iraqi side, and as for me...well I am going to stop and remember the people who died, because it is my home country and the people who died in the buildings and the rescuers who died too, deserve to be remembered....

Actually, what I am "spouting off" does have some relation to the topic at hand.
We never would have attacked Afghanistan if not for 9-11. We never would have let Bush go into Iraq with a bogus claim of nuclear warheads existing if he didn't play the whole "9-11 could happen again," shit.
So what I am saying does have relation to 9-11.
