Looking For A Band That Sounds Like OLP Or MGB

Post by Baby Thief »

I haven't found any band that touches me as much as these two. OLP - well you all know how incredible they are. MGB - I just really enjoy their sound. Their slow stuff was awesome, and now his slow stuff is awesome too.

I've heard of Muse And Moist. Both are alright, but i am looking for more the structure of an MGB and OLP song instead of the voice or lyrics of OLP or MGB.

Anyone who knows what i am trying to say, please give me some good suggestions.

Baby Thief, try listening to the music of "left Pencey" from this thread--> http://www.clumsymonkey.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6615

I think you'll be pleasently surprised... I feel they bring a similar sort of energy and passion to their songs like OLP and MGB do

supposedly smashing pumpkins and olp have a similar style. I'm not musically talented enough to compare their song compositions, but I can tell you that both bands are fricking awesome. and SP is one of the few bands that touches me even close to the way olp used to before i overplayed them.

hmmm OLP and IME sometimes come close, but ussually IME leans more to the artisitic and cryptic side closest to SM and Naveed. There's also 2 singers some say edwin is alot like Raine. One caution if you try them out get a variety of stuff and give it some time to grow on you if you don't like it immidiatly, i would also suggest not getting anything off of Dig. Brian and Edwin are both good just diffrent

Don't get anything off dig? Where's the crack you were smoking, I want some!! Dig was an amazing album, back when Edwin was their singer, I mean, how can you say that after hearing songs like "Not Quite Sonic", "Levitate", and "Rain Will Fall"? [And that's just the singles]. Dig easily rips apart anything that poser Edwin Brian has done, if you're checking out IME, do oyurself a favour and get the Edwin shit ["Dig", "Scenery and Fish", and "Earth, Sky and Everything Between"

i suggested not checking out Dig out first because it's kinda metalish with the way Edwin yells and not quite as solid melody wise, but he's right Not Quite Sonic does rule

I don't have a problem. I like many many bands... however, OLP and MGB are just the only ones that have stricken me with so much emotion.

Baby Thief: try listening to Greenwheel, a lot of OLP fans really like them and theyre really passionate as well. The Mars Volta is a really awesome band too, also check out Fingertight and Revis. And Finger Eleven. Those are pretty much my favorite bands and I'm with you about OLP and MGB. As for people telling you you have a problem, just let them run their mouth off. If you have less than 2 million posts noone will take you seriously anyway.

No, I don't think he has a problem. I just meant that sometimes something totally different can be what you're looking for.

hmmm chris i know i rant about IME alot but if you like 30 seconds i could seee you liking IME, or at least new IME. They opened for IME alot, and they have similarities, also Dream Theater fans would like them too, or any prog rock, or highly band oriented fans, esspecially guitar people

I would second the recommendation for 30 Seconds To Mars.

mhmm. And if you're gonna listen to the Mars Volta, you have to listen to At The Drive-In. They were nothing like olp, but awesome as hell.
don't look now, just keep watching the TV hating what's too see waiting for someone to say something that's right.
