A Waste of Violence

Post by Long Jonny »

Hey... this song was originally on the tracklisting for SM. Does anyone have it or a demo of it? I'm probably just wasting my time- but it's worth a shot. :P

Nope.

The only place anyone's ever heard of it was on that original SM cover that was in some Oli prize pack on olp.cc (I think that's where it was).

And though the hum and sway gets me down

a wonderful and amazing website.
They have contests and one of the prises has SM artwork - some of which had the origional track listings for the CD which included a song that didn't make the cut called "a waste of violence"

Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.

Nah, I don't think we'll be hearing this one....ever. Oh God, I would kill to hear an eleventh song on SM. Ahhhh
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

this is a prime example of a song that is probably completly done, mixing and everything, that we will never hear. i would kill for songs that we probably havent even heard of that were recorded for clumsy or happiness then were just dumped because they didnt like them. there must be dozens they at least started, let alone completly finished. :(

 I wanna hear SM b-side...
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

It's not a b-side unless it was released. B-Side means the song included with a single, which doesn't make sense now that we have CD's and there is no b-side, or a-side for that matter. It's simple an unreleased/rare song. An album of b-sides, rarities and remixes would rock!

OK, some Canadian on this board needs to go to Arnold Lanni's place and get these songs. This is out of hand. We need this song. I need something to make me like OLP again.
