The Used

I looked back about 5 pages to see if there was already a topic about these guys but couldn't find one. Thoughts? I just picked up the cd a couple of days ago and really like it so far.

I was just reading on their website how the singer (bert) actually pukes on stage ... and freaks out ... he gets so into it they've nicknamed his puking? Did he do that at the shows you saw?

"Their live experience is indeed a visceral one. Every note, every scream and every leap carries the possibility of a laceration or a contusion, a lost shoe, a damaged instrument or worse: McCracken, who prowls the stage singing and screaming as if jockeying for an aneurysm, often drops chow. "Sometimes, there's no way in hell I can keep it down," he laughs. "I just love to scream in people's faces and sometimes it makes me puke."

the first show i went to he didn't, he said he really tries not to these days because it's terrible for the voice.

at the second show, however, it was SO small and packed and hot and everyone was so into it, and i was in the very front and i saw him puke a little bit, it wasn't a lot at all but it was still gross.

And now I have a reason to go into the pit if I ever go see The Used.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

Taste of Ink is the best damn song ever
Is there something good, something more?
Is there anything worth dying for?

the used kinda piss me off cause they have 3 fantastic songs (taste of ink, blue and yellow, buried myself alive) and a couple decent songs (bulimic, on my own)....but the rest is total and utter crap
"Sh*t, id be f*ckin' scared if us were opening for...us"
-Dave Grohl on why the Red Hot Chili Peppers only let the Foos play a 45 minute set when they toured together

"baby, i wish you were my baby,
ill make u make a baby,
let's make electric power,
in fear u should not cower,
cuz girl i will protect u,
i promise not to sex u,
and IiiiiIiiiiIiiiiiiIiiiiiIiiiiii...." - Dudez a Plenti

"all by myself
cause I don’t want to drag you down, hold you down
cause you’re a friend
i blame myself
i guess you think it’s funny now, funny now
it's such a shame..."
-Feeder - Just a Day

I am still awesome.........................................................................................seriously.

They're from my state, so they play the Big Ass show every year. I was really disgusted when he screamed so hard he threw up on stage. But I do like some of the songs I've heard.

After listening to the cd a few times, every song kinda grew on me.... There isn't really one song that I dislike, just that some are better than others =)... But overall a good cd
What I felt before was wrong, I told myself all along, these familiar feelings take away the pain. And with this reason to rebel, I told you how I felt, you turned and sighed and said you couldn't feel a thing for me. And I lost another wish in all of this.

Maybe someone should teach Bert how to scream and not puke on the stage....

I wouldn't be disgusted by it I don't think .. he described it as putting so much of himself into what he's doing on stage and eventually it takes a lot out of him heh .. talk about giving it your all.

I agree about liking all the songs on the cd .. there's none I feel an urge to skip over.

haha, that's funny because all of my favorite songs on that CD are not those songs. i like the harder ones (box full ... , maybe memories, say days ago, and the secret song).

i love the used... bert has such an amazing voice... its hard to narrow it down to which song is my favourite because theyre all equally awesome.. but if i really had to...my top 3 would be: box full of sharp objects, on my own, & noise and kisses.. he pukes/coughs up blood because hes really forcing the screams out.. thats a really big strain on your throat

I know about the coughing up blood thing, that's why I never sing anymore! The next morning is hell. That's all I have to say about that.
