OLP's best lyrical song?

Post by Flea21212 »

Just wondering what you think OLP's best lyrical song is.

My chioce would be "Theif", I never really understood it's meaning untill I read that it was about a girl that died of a bring tumor. Once I learned that and re-read the lyrics I realised how powerfull it was.

Naveed

I find it to be about a suicide. It's brilliant. Rather than mourning, Raine is asking what heaven is like.

Stealing Babies

I believe Raine is talking to God. By the chorus, it sounds like he is talking about a disease that is killing little children. He wants to know why it happens, not only ending a life but leaving a family to wonder.

Carnival

Everyone has the days like in "Carnival", when you are just pissed off and everything. Totally relatable song.

Hello Oskar

This song reminds me of a "slow" guy I work with. He oftentimes doesn't make any sense whatsoever

The Wonderful Future

My girlfriend was recently away for a while, and this song described what I was feeling. She told me she would miss me and home ("She leaves this whole worls behind, and the things that she cares"). It may not be what Raine intended it to mean, but that's the beauty.

Obivious lines like "Maybe she's gone but it won't be for long..." and "I'm best to let go with a touch of her soul..." stand out. "She needs to know I'm alive, but I'm flesh, and I tear" really stood out too, as she often doesn't realize how her frequent traveling gets to me, because not seeing hear really "tears" at me. I often wonder if she's truly happier when she is gone ("Maybe she's found what we all dream about"), but I question myself ("What do I know?")

Ultimately, I conclude that she truly is the best thing for me, especially because she is just so different ("wild" if you will) from other girls I have met ("She's beautiful and wild, and I can't compare")

"TWF" is definitely the OLP song that clicks the most with me.

Excuse me for my sob story :wtf:

i'm not sure if it's 'wild' the lyrics say wonderful and raine basically says 'whaaaaaaaaaaaaa', but if 'wild' is more meaningful to you then that's how you should take it. it's stuff like this that makes me hate 'gravity', everything is so straightforward and simple, but with older stuff everyone can find their own meanings in songs, and because each song is different for every person it's far more personal, which is a good thing, me thinks.

one man army
we are the brand new beatniks. we are the down and outers.
we are the bleeding hearts, beating syncopated, broken rhythm.
our speed is often break neck. we need to slow it down.
tired of being sleepless. tired of being broken.

Sleeping In was a song they did live. I think it was a left over from Clumsy. It was pretty damn good, but all we've got is low quality bootlegs. You should be able to find it on the Hub. Actually, I downloaded it from Kazaa a long long time ago.

And though the hum and sway gets me down
, I'll find the way to peace and openness.

Yep, I got it from Kazaa as well awhile ago.

Hmm ... this is a hard question for me. I take alot from a bunch of the songs, but I will try and cut it down:

The Wonderful Future
4am
Is Anybody Home?
Clumsy
Superman's Dead
Neon Crossing
The Birdman
Happiness and the Fish
Story of 100 Aisles
Lying Awake
In Repair
Theif

Without you I'm as good as
dead ...

Clumsy
Stealing Babies
Is Anybody Home?
Thief
