Record Companies Will Start Suing Music Downloaders
I was just wondering how people felt about this..
I agree with it, yet at the same time I'm going, 'damnit!!' I know that it isn't being fair to the artist to download music, but what about those songs that you just feel like hearing or randomly like, so you download it? I would never buy a CD for one song, or even two. Of course I wouldn't download an entire album and never buy it.. Downloading songs was just so convinient, though!! Before Napster I listened to CRAP, I mean complete CRAP because I wasn't exposed to anything other than the shit they play on the radio. Most of my friends don't listen to good music, so it's not like I was exposed that way. When I got Napster, I just explored and downloaded and became introduced to amazing music. If I liked what I heard, I went out and bought the album. Before that, I never bought CDs, I just listened to the radio.
I realize there are many people out there who just did away with buying CDs altogether and just downloaded and burned them, and I know that's bad.. so I don't know what I'm saying.. haha
Does anyone else have anything to say?

yeah definitely..i mean obviously if u like the artist enough you'd want to support them...it definitely introduced me to different music as well..but i can see why they'd be completely pissed off when ppl just basically "steal" their music..i just hope it doesnt go..but i agree with areusad831 i dont see it happening.

OK, I will put this bluntly. If they sue people for downloading music, not only will it not work, it will make even more people download the music and less people buy cds. They should quit the bitching. Instead of charging $14 or more for a cd, make the prices reasonable. How about they actually do a decent job marketing it instead of just throwing a commercial on MTV and not saying anything bout the record?
Anyways, if not for Napster and Kazaa, I would listen to horrid music still. If not for Napster, I'd never have listened to Alkaline Trio, my gateway band to great music. I'd never have given Glassjaw a chance, or pretty much every band I listen to besides OLP. Fuck the opposers.

I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

My thoughts exactly. I know we talked about this in WTTW a little bit too and I think there were 50 some million in the US. Let them try to stop that many people ..... they will be asking for the apathetic people to get off their asses and vote .... and taking away music, that could do it. I bet I could take 20 people to vote with me if i told em they were going to take away there mp3s.

whatever the number, each and every one of those cases should be considered frivolous.

its a scare tactic.......but hate to tell ya, using software and becoming your own lil' version of "Big Brother" and getting into our computers is ummmmm hacking? Illegal, hell, I'll purposely download 5000 songs and if they send me a letter in August, I'd be more than willing to go to court and laugh my ass off.
Our county prosecutor has been laughing his ass off since he heard about this a couple of days ago. When he thinks its funny, I know its a joke.
I used to like Mandy Moore until I heard she's been backing this whole idea by the RIAA. Bitch, she can eat a fat one now.

why is she supporting it? i mean seriously musicians don't get rich off of their CD sales, record companies do. how the hell could TLC sell 11 million copies of a cd and declare bankrupcy?
poor Mandy, she's a pawn in their little game.
