misheard lyrics

Post by UltraViolet »

I know there was a topic on this awhile back. I am too tired to revive it so let's start a new one. I was listening to OLP today( as I do most days) . I was thinking of how often it is sometimes hard to understand exactly what Raine is singing. I can understand him about 80-85% of the time.

here are some of the lyrics I would think.
in Dirty Walls- actually line is- You feel the stain of dried up discussions.

I always thougt he was saying- YOur soul feels life's distain.(go figure)

In BBTS I first thought he said I'm haning up my evening coat, It is I'm hanging up my ego.

What are some of your first heard lyrics or what you think he is saying.

I never knew he was saying "unfit appearence" in OMA for like 2 months after Happiness came out... I didn't even bother looking at the lyrics for it either, then one day it just clicked... I don't remember what exactly I thought he was saying...

I think some parts in In Repair are sorta hard to understand as well especially the "Take this time to figure out..." part
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

In Bring Back the Sun when he sings "sunny days again" I simply cannot and will not hear those words. It either sounds like raine butchered it beyond belief or those aren't the bloody lyrics. I actually got mad at Raine because of this song........damn mumbles.

It is worse live because the first time it is easy, then you just can't make out the secnd part. I think it is supoose to be sunny adays again. It actually sounds like SUNSETS again. who knows.

the worse song live is I forgot the title now( I just remembered the title-disgusted_, but th e one that became Big Dumb Rocket. You can understand as clear as day the lyrics that actually made big dumb rocket. The others sound like he is mumbling.

These two lines in OMA:

Through the blaze
I know I'm coughing

and

Let the footsteps be the last sounds that they hear.

i had no idea what he was saying and i still can't sing along right, because i taught myself with the wrong words.:freak:

4am is a pretty typical one... most people sing "didn't know" instead of "ignore"

actually this isn't misheard lyrics, but to this day IAH 2nd chorus is never sang right. it kills me all the time. I know sometimes it bugs Raine also. he went off on the crowd in Rhode Island a few years back about that.

ya I've seen him laugh at the audience before because there are people who know the correct words to IAH and try to yell them over the people who sing them wrong... I don't think there's anything Raine can really do about that, and he's probably grown to accept it now, especially after playing it so much

He should bring a paintball gun and spray the audience until they get it right. Tough love for supposed OLP fans.

people don't sing "Is anybody low, Has anybody painted fear on the bedroom walls That save us from many" they just repeat the normal chorus

That's because, according to interviews, the lyrics weren't finished when they recorded it, so Raine just mumbled through a couple lines. Makes me mad too, but that's "live feel" for you . . .

And for misheard lyrics, I've always thought the line "you're rushing to meditate" in Shaking sounds kind of like "the Russians went insane."

i used to think Naveed was
"Im not gonna fear anymore"
instead of
"I can't live here anymore"

in Happiness & The Fish i thought it was
"But I can't find happiness"
instead of
"Bored again by happiness"

in The Story of 100 Ailes i thought it was
"Innocet! We're stumbling again"
instead of
"Anacin! We're stumbling again"

in Bring Back The Sun i thought it was
"Burry this hate, and fill it with love"
instead of
"Burry this hate, and build it with love"

in The Birdman i thought it was
"Hopelessly a man starts to feel dead."
instead of
"Hopelessly the man starts to feed your day."

in Thief i thought it was
"I can be all, be all"
instead of
"I can be your, be your"

when I first heard Clumsy i thought the line "as clumsy as you've been" was "as clumsy as you appear"......when i look back on it i wonder where i got that from?
Is there something good, something more?
Is there anything worth dying for?

Happiness & the Fish:
I used to think
"Bored again by happiness
And all those friends I've(die) lost in there"

was
"But again my happiness
Is all for friends I've lost in there"
