I would like to ask you a question about Matthew Good Band.

:P

Basically, seen as everytime I came on the CM there were about 700 topics about them, I decided to download some stuff. I listened to Weapon last night and I loved it :D

So. I want to know what else I should download. And which album you feel is the best (I'm on a manic CD buying spree at the moment, it's lasted about 6 months so far ).

So yes. All input is welcome

Being a hardcore MG/MGB fan, I must point out to you that Weapon is by Matthew Good, not the Matthew Good Band :P

The former has one album, Avalanche, which you should go out and buy asap, or at least download the tracks Avalanche, 21st Century Living, and While We Were Hunting Rabbits. But buy it

MGB is a whole 'nother barrel of monkeys. They produced 4 albums and three EP's: Last of the Ghetto Astronauts, Raygun (EP), Underdogs, Lo-fi B-sides (EP), Beautiful Midnight, Loser Anthems & B-side Rarities (EP), and the Audio of Being. You'll get conflicting opinions on which album is the best, but it tends to be a toss up between Beautiful Midnight and Audio of Being.

Tracks to download (and I'm assuming you've heard nothing by them): Hello Time Bomb, Apparitions, Prime Time Deliverance, Load Me Up, Strange Days, Carmelina, Advertising on Police Cars, Sort of a Protest Song, Jenni's Song, Going All the Way, and Running for Home, just to get you started.
Just because I am sexy, naked, a bassist, and sporting a top hat doesn't make me Duncan Coutts!

My favorite MGB song is Load Me Up. I suggest you download it it's really good

Matt Good used to be in a band called "The Matthew Good Band". The band split up, and now Matt's on his own.

matthew good band = matt, dave genn, rich priske, ian brownn
before that, it was matt, dave, ian, and geoff lloyd.

anyway, i suggest: jenni's song, running for home, under the influence, tripoli, sort of a protest song, change of season, apparitions, my out of style is coming back, symbolistic white walls, giant

uh... just download anything. it's mostly all fairly amazing stuff.

creative differences, i'd download all of Beutiful midnight first, even though most other MGB fans will hate me for telling you that, it's the easiest matt good band cd to like and is alot more radio friendly, not like it's a gravity though it's still very intelectual
"How can we justify spending so much on destruction and so little on life?" Matthew Good

"The white dove is gone, the one world has come down hard, so why not share the pain of our problems, when all around are wrong ways, when all around is hurt, i'll roll up in an odd shape and wait, untill the tide has turned.....with anger, i'm dead weight, i'm anchored"- IME, God Rocket (Into the Heart of Las Vegas) ^ Some say this song is about a terrorists thoughts before 911

"Pray for the sheep" Matt Good
"But it's alright, take the world and make it yours again" Matt Good

Yay more Matt Good threads! Keep it going!

Refer to my ancient post in the "Matt Good Appreciation Thread". I don't feel like typing the whole thing again.

I don't think he'll come over here to play though :( Still, OLP keep coming over here and I've heard that Chantal and Finger Eleven are trying to come over too some time this year and Matt Good's next on my list of Canadians I never thought I'd get to see live so maybe he'll be next! Otherwise it's another trip to Canada for me next time he does a tour.

As for songs/albums. I only really got into his music after hearing Weapon in Canada earlier this year. I only have Avalanche and Beautiful Midnight - both of which are amazing, though I think I prefer Beautiful Midnight.

For songs to get: Weapon, Avalanche, 21st Century Living, Hello Time Bomb, Strange Days, Load Me Up, Suburbia, Jenni's Song. I also have Indestructible on a compilation CD - I love that so you could try to get it too - I don't know which album it's from.

While I'm here, does anyone know where I can download the Weapon video? I really like it and I'd like to have a pausable version so I can actually read all of the things that are written on the screen.

Matt Good gets on the radio a lot here. He's not too bad actually.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.
