More Moose pictures coming up

Post by Eelco »

But be patient. I still have to complete the roll in my camera and then get it developed.

In the mean time, here's my review for the Amsterdam show last night:

Wow, was that ever amazing. I thought it could never be better than Hamburg, but it was. Although the venue was slightly bigger this time. The Melkweg Max holds about 1000 people and it was almost half full. Even I was surprised by how many people, also Dutch people, actually knew the words to most of the songs. Especially the songs from Clumsy and Gravity. But let's start at the beginning. Before the show the band just walked through the crowd to the backstage area. Hardly anyone noticed. Everyone was paying attention to the crappy opening act (Absent Minded, a Dutch high school band, desperetaly trying to be Hoobastank and P.O.D.). Anyway, I've almost forgotten how bad they were, because OLP was awesome of course. In between the two acts, they played the Danko Jones cd. So I was already getting in the right mood again. I just saw Danko Jones at the same venue a month ago. Then OLP came on stage and started with the intro for All For You. This time I could also enjoy the light effect, in Hamburg they either didn't bring them or they didn't fit in the building. The setlist was slightly different, and more important longer, than in Hamburg as well. I now also got to see Raine climbing on Steve during the Birdman and I got to hear In Repair live for the first time. After Starseed they left and then they came back again as usual. Playing In Repair, Whatever, Somewhere Out There and then they let the audience sing 4AM completely. But after the encore they even came back for a second one, consisting of just one song, but one of my favorites: Is Anybody Home? Finally something from Happiness, my favorite album. But even if they hadn't played that it would have been excellent of course. I'm still amazed by how good they sound live. And even playing in Amsterdam didn't affect them. It's often the case that when bands play in Holland that they're drunk and/or stoned.
After the show the band went backstage again and everybody went outside to wait for them in fornt of their tourbus. But my friends and I sneakliy followed some people from Sony Music into the backstage area and got to right in front of OLP's dressing room. We weren't allowed to go in, but Steve was outside talking to some other fans, so we joined them. We talked for about an hour. After a while the rest of the band to grab something to eat and I got to take a picture of everybody holding the Moose. The pictures will probably be online Friday, after the show in Brussels. I didn't take many other pictures, because the lighting was (although fantastic) not very good for my digital camera and then the battery went dead also. Luckily, I'd also brought my other camera.

steve is so cute
we are the brand new beatniks. we are the down and outers.
we are the bleeding hearts, beating syncopated, broken rhythm.
our speed is often break neck. we need to slow it down.
tired of being sleepless. tired of being broken.
