OK, so there is no Big Dumb Rocket video, but if YOU could design, direct, produce, etc... a video for this song, what would it be like? Give as much detail as you would like...

I guess nobody wants a BGR video!!! but actually, ive heard like, a million different stories behind this video and before i tell how i would make the video, i would probably need to know what the real story is! ive heard that

a)raine wrote this song about a psycho urge he had to shoot his friend naveed when he was a child

b)raine accidentally shot naveed and wrote teh song about the time period in which he was laying on the ground or whatever

theyre all basically variations of these two stories...so which one is real?

i heard that Raine was pretending to shoot at his friend, but the gun was actually loaded and he ALMOST hit him...

Those are close.

He never actually shot the gun, just pointed it at his friend (and I don't think it was Naveed).

thats the story i heard also, the one where he pointed the gun at his friend, it went off by accident and missed his friend closely, but ive also heard that the gun didnt actually go off also... hmmmm, which one is right?

So, since i started this post, i guess i should put in my idea for the video

<scene opens with silence and a close up of Mike's Guitar... as he strikes the first note into the song, there is a flash, and the scene is replaced by Mike holding a Shotgun like a guitar for a split second, and then you see the guitar again... this continues with several "flashes" throughout the video, with Raine singing into a hand gun, Duncan thumping on a rifle, and jeremy drumming with pistols instead of sticks. These flashes never last for more than a half second, but would give a good effect

the camera switches between different views of the band playing inside an empty parking lot, maybe somewhere in a city, and views of the storyline, which would go something like a child finding his dad's gun cabinet. The camera would be positioned in the First Person perspective of the child. The young boy would dig around in the cabinet, find a gun, play with it, walk outside with it, go down the street, and eventually end up in the same parking lot as the band, around the part in the song where Raine says "and im disgusted by..." and there is a pause. As the chorus comes back in, the kid would turn the gun and look down inside the barrel... several camera shots back and forth between the kid's perspective and the band (of course still with the Gun substituting flashes). The band never looks at the kid, they are facing adjacent to him... as Raine starts his final voicing cries, the boy begins crying and we have flashbacks in which the boy sees what his father has done with the gun (target practice, hunting, cleaning, etc) and one flash shows a woman laying on the ground (identity unknown, but too young to be the mother). This flashback holds for about two seconds (in black and white) and as mike brings the last little guitar riff home, the kid drops the gun... it falls in slow motion, the camera now viewing it with the band in the background... as it hits it goes off and the video ends>

wow, that was long, i have more detail, but i didnt want to bore anyone more than possible...

"We were at friend's house and this one person had a really cool looking gun. He told me it's a Beretta. It's like a handgun, a real gun right. So my friend decides to take a shower. So I take the gun and play with it. I used to be this super huge Starky and Hutch fan. So I'm holding the gun thinking I'm pretty cool I guess. I take the clip out because I don't want to hurt anyone, obviously. So I put the clip back in the box thinking I'm fine. I go to his bathroom and sneak behind this corner and I can see him with my left eye. I decide that I'm gonna scare him. So when he shut off the shower, I come around and I say BANG!!! And he falls on the shower floor, very scared! He's laughing and crying. I just pointed his Beretta on him (my best friend). This has nothing to do with this thread, but my close friend Naveed, grew up with Mike's niece Amber. So he always thought the album/song was named after him. I laughed very hard when he told me that story.

as for OLPfan420, what would you think about the song Are You Sad? That is another song i think a video would be tremendous for... maybe you can give that one a try
