Getting lost in an OLP song

Post by UltraViolet »

hey guys have any of you ever gotten lost in an OLP song. I mean to get so caught up in it, that nothing else matters. If so what songs.
every time i hear BBTS & SAAG i get lost in the lyrics to the point of feeling the emotion of the narrator in the songs. Seriously, it is as if I am part of the song and feel very emotional and passionate about them.
Has that happen to anyone else.

I love how the music can just take you away. That's definitely happened to me, to quite a few of their songs. I get caught up when I'm in the car usually...singing at the top of my lungs, drumming on the steering wheel, and then realizing that others can probably see me. I know they don't know me, but hey, I'm shy! Sometimes you can just totally put yourself in the song, like DYLI...

I totally get lost in the songs "Blister" "In Repair" "Waited" and "Carnival" I just think about the lyrics, and imagine how the video could have been done and how amazing it truly would have been if I could have made the video. I always come up with these really artsy, imagrey videos where you'd have to listen, watch, and think at the same time to understand. I was beat to the punch with In Repair. The only thing I would have done was like have some shots of the band performing, but with some filters and drawings over them. Don't get me started with Blister or Are You Sad. I have these imensly complicated videos made for the songs, and either would be classics like Thief or hated like Life.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

I get lost in "Blister", "Stealing Babies", "4am", "Are You Sad?", "Naveed", and "The Wonderful Future". I get all taken away by the lyrics and the sound and..ahh..i dunno. i just really get into those songs, to the point where i daydream and all that stuff.

Oh God you should hear my ideas for The Wonderful Future. I am just so creative when it comes to things I am not capable of doing for a living.

You can learn to do the drums. At the moment, I am teaching myself the bass. My friend gave me his $800 Fender so I am putting it to good use.

Everytime I hear The Wonderful Future I think to myself that it really stands as a pinnacle of greatness, a something that marks Mike's atmospheric sound at its best, preceding his fateful departure.

hmm...i wish my friends would just throw unwanted musical instruments at me. i've wanted to play drums for a really long time but i don't know anyone who has a set or anything, which sucks. When I was in fourth grade and about to pick my band instrument of choice someone told me not to play drums because i would get arthritis..and of course i listened to them and picked the trumpet. so now i have a special skill that i'll never use unless i start a damn ska band.

The Wonderful Future makes me think of flight. Just pure, boundless, free flight.

A lot of the thier songs fuel my imagine be I don't have the artistic ability to get it all out through a medium.

Re: Getting lost in an OLP song

Post by superboots »

*sigh* I used to get lost in OLP songs all the time when I first started listening. Now...not so much. Usually Bright Eyes songs do it for me now.

God, do I miss that feeling. A few days ago, I listened to "Life" and it really got to me, and sometimes Not Enough does it too, but I have to be in a certain mood.

Songs that I used to get lost in ALL the time: Blister, Potato Girl, Let You Down, Carnival, All My Friends and Everyone's a Junkie. The other songs, sometimes, depending on my mood.

[reminiscing] Back in the day, when I got happiness, I used to play it for hours upon end, and every song used to be so meaningful to me, so profound, so deep. And then I got Clumsy....wow! It was like an eternal state of bliss and/or sadness. Those two cd's fit any mood I was in. OLP was my therapy for those troubled high school years. [/reminiscing]
HARDCORE!!!

OMG. I can't believe I din't think fo you
until now because when I think on
a scale of one to ten you're like YWELVE.
No, seriously?

I <3 my HLP!!!!!
