I know it's kinda like Rob's post, but I guess I have the same homework. I have to explain every line in Thief. Can anyone tell me what these lines mean? "There's a house built out in space."
"someone help us understand who oredered this disgusting arrangment with time and the end i dont wanna hear who walked on water, because the hallways are empty and the clock ticks."
Thanks a lot.
Some of you probably think I left. But was I ever here to start?

Raine is asking who created life and death, and is asking why do people who are close to you have to die. And when he says he doesn't wanna hear about some one walking on water, he's saying, "don't tell me about Jesus" and "don't refer to the Bible, tell me why people have to die at such a young age, and why those you love have to die so soon?"
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.
"There's a House built out in space"
I think this is a reference to some kind of afterlife, like heaven.
"Someone help us understand who ordered
This disgusting arrangement with time and the end
I don't want to hear who walked on water
Cause the hallways are empty, clocks tick"
I think Raine is basically epressing how time is the enemy in this unfortunate & unfair situation (in this case, an in-operable brain tumor) and how everything else in the world (both physically and spiritually -- eg. the reference to Jesus) seems so irrelevant when a girl, so young and close to his heart, has her life taken away.

Ya, he's looking for why the girl had to die. When people use Jesus to comfort in times of need, it ususally comes across as "Well, God has a plan, we just don't see it," etc. But that doesn't let the girl run through her house again, and what kind of God would let the rest of the world just keep going when your own world has stopped after someone dies?
You can't go around building a better world for people. Only people can build a better world for people. Otherwise it's just a cage.
