hypothetical OLP tribute album

Post by Endymion »

So just imagine that someone decided to put together a ten-song OLP tribute album full of OLP covers. Who would you most like to see on there, and what songs would they play?

1. Tool - Birdman
2. Live - Starseed
3. Stone Temple Pilots - Clumsy
4. Bush - 4am
5. Silverchair - One Man Army
6. Smashing Pumpkins - Thief
7. U2 - Life
8. Matthew Good Band - If You Believe
9. Jeff Buckley - The Wonderful Future
10. Britney Spears - Innocent

Yeah, I realize that most tribute albums are full uf unknown bands, but it's hypothetical, so who cares?

OK, if that was the line-up for their tribute album, not only would I be scared to listen to the Wonderful Future (being made from beyond the grave and all) I would not buy it. I would prefer a line-up of nobodies, so at least stars wouldn't butcher the OLP songs. U2 doing Life, meh....
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

you know afew years ago a few of us were kidding around about the boy band/girl doing OLP covers.

We said we can see Brit doing Clumsy, BSB doing Superman's dead, Christina doing OMA and N'sync doing Naveed.

this was before SM came out. so it is outdated.
But if there ever was an OLP tribute Cd, I think it would be by up and coming Canadian artist they influenced.

I know it seems funny to think that, since OLP haven't been around that long(under 10 years) but believe it or not they have influenced afew of the younger newer bands out there.

the other day I was looking up a source of an old photo I found on Duncan so I typed in Duncan Coutts in Google and you'd be surprised how many things came up. Anyway there was a few kids on there who listed him as an influence on their Bass playing.

I am sure that there are kids who feel that way about Raine(singing/songwriting) Jeremy(drums), and Mike(guitar)

who knowsw with in time there might just be one. I think the band would be proud.

Or better yet how many ways can you play Carnival. They have mixed Carnival up with 2-3 songs now and it always sounds great.

if I had to choose one song. I love to see U2 do Naveed because I always felt that was the best damnBONO song that BONO didn't write.(high 5 to Mr Maida & band for it)
