A Rush Of Blood To The Head

Post by defying_gravity »

Wow. I had very high expectations for this CD and they have been met. The opener "Politik" immediately sets the tone - powerful, lyrically excellent and very atmospheric. The stand-out tracks so far are "Politik", "God Put A Smile Upon My Face", "The Scientist" and "Amsterdam". The best track, though, has to be the beautiful "Clocks" with it's incessent piano arpegios and haunting lyrics - this is a sure-fire number one single.

It was a difficult task to follow on from such a successful debut album, but Coldplay have risen to the challenge and have by no means rested on their laurels. The sound has evolved (an increasing reliance on piano and some accomplished bass-lines) and quite frankly they remind me even more of Radiohead than they did before. Think "Fake Plastic Trees" and you should have some idea of the sound. If Rush... is Coldplay's "The Bends" I can't wait for their "OK Computer".

Even though tomorrow is loaded with new releases, your post has pushed me into buying this CD. Thanks for the great review of this album, I will see what I think tomorrow.

Actually I just listened to some sound clips and came to my senses. This shit is so boring! I was going to go against my better judgement, but now I'll get something else instead.

I can't wait for that cd to be released. Parachutes blew me away, and I hope the new one can do the same for me. I haven't listened to anything off the new cd yet, so everything will be new for me. I can't wait....gleeeeee
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

I've only heard some clips here and there, but I must say, I really like that one song, The Scientist.

The Scientist is great, but by no means the best. "Politik" and "Clocks" beat anything on Parachutes.

And you can buy new CD for $10? That's ridiculous. Rush... cost me £13.99 which is about $21 (twice the amount you pay). You have no excuse not to buy this album.
