Our Lady Peace In Other Bands' 'Thank You's'?

Post by NunoFreak »

I just got the debut solo album from Kay Hanley called "Cherry Marmalade". She's the former lead singer of Letters To Cleo, who I thought were a very underrated band. Their drummer is now the lead singer in American Hi-Fi, but anyway, I digress. In her liner notes, Kay thanks Our Lady Peace and just a few other bands. Anyone know any connection between the two artists? Also, what other bands have thanked Our Lady Peace in the their album notes?

I'm going to have to buy that album. I love Letters to Cleo.

I THINK they may've toured together for awhile...I can't be positive.

I'm fairly sure that her husband is Mike Eisenstein. He's touring with the band.
That's the only connection I can come up with.

yeah, her husband is mike eisenstein, who used to play guitar for letters to cleo, and now is back up guitar or OLP. that's the story i heard. i don't know if they ever toured together though. that would make sense too. :freak:

For the record, the album (Kay Hanley's solo album) is awesome! It's one of my favorite albums so far this year. Mike Eisenstein is indeed her husband, and he plays guitar on the album. He also co-wrote some of the songs on "Cherry Marmalade". You should all buy the album and support Kay, she's one of my favorite female vocalists.

Thanks for mentioning this; I wouldn't have known otherwise.

Next time I get the chance I'll put that Newbury Comics gift certificate to good use.

Ahree,

You're from MA? Are you familiar with the band Mourning Widows and/or Nuno Bettencourt? You should pick up Mourning Widows' "Furnished Souls For Rent" at Newbury Comics, I know they have it for sale there.

I'm not familiar with them, but I'll try em out. Any song suggestions just so I know what they sound like before I buy the CD?

Yup, I'm from MA...born in Dorchester too, but I don't live there.

I'm spamming again, but if I ever make a CD, which is highly unlikely because I don't even have a band, and I'm not that great of a singer, BUT anyways, if I ever make a CD, I'll thank OLP. They'll think I'm a freak, cause I don't know them, but I'll cite them as a musical influence.

OLP was also thanked in the liner notes to the Simple Plan cd, which will make some of you on here cringe. I guess Simple Plan and OLP are on the same advertizment/marketing team or something like that, and OLP showed up in the thank you's.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

I don't particularly like Simple Plan, but that's cool, anyways.

I really like Simple Plan ..

What about Serial Joe? I know in interviews they've talked about how they look up to OLP but I don't know if they've mentioned that in their notes

OLP did tour with Everclear and Letters to Cleo....thats how they got Mike Eisenstein....they liked his work and were friends with him from the tour years ago.
Is there something good, something more?
Is there anything worth dying for?
