What now?

Post by Tinman »

So, curve is out, and the band is touring for it... then what happens? This place is all but but, Trusty is gone, and the future is uncertain. Do you guys think raine will focus more on his solo stuff? WIll they keep touring? It sounded like they band really wanted to keep writing... any chance we'll see album 9 in the next two years?

More touring is next. Trusty has been on the road for months on end. He'll be back when he's rested up. Fall/Winter tour, writing/recording, Summer '13 festival dates. That would fit the standard pattern. If there's an album before Spring '15 I'd be surprised.

I think what Matt said seems pretty accurate. This seems to be the method of operation for the band the last number of years. It's a shame that they aren't as prolific as they used to be around 2000, when there was a new album every year or two, but with families and living in different cities now, it's understandable.

I suppose what now is a valid question though, considering the uncertainty of the band after gravity, HIPT, BB we asked this question lots....but the band seems in a good place now, very invigorated by curve, enjoying playing the songs live, and I think it's a good sign that we'll see more material from them start to leak out maybe late 2013 or early 2014 (I'm more optimistic than Matt I guess haha).

What do you guys think the next leg of touring will be? Do you think they'll piggy back the Charlotte festival at the end of September into more dates around the Southeast?

Is it too soon to start the "New Album in 201x" thread?

somwhere in there we also have to factor a month or two for Raine to do a solo tour too.
“Music doesn’t have the power to change the world. What music does is it changes people, & that changes the world, so to say that music doesn’t change people anymore is just ridiculous. It does everyday. It doesn’t have to be on a political or social level. You could be feeling shitty & it makes you happy & if that’s all it does, it’s changing the world. It’s making it a better place.” ~ Raine Maida

Don't expect it. Raine said in an interview a while back they probably won't be released.

I'd love for that to happen again. I haven't seen a solo show since he opened for Chantal at Massy Hall.

His solo stuff has been great so far, I'm really liking the sound he's experimenting with. A new OLP album would be awesome too, but I'm still enjoying Curve.

I'd like to see a theatre tour for curve this winter/spring like they did for Burn Burn. I'd love the see Gravity/Happiness recreated like they did with spirtual/Clumsy.

Anyone else? I know everyone hates Gravity, but it was likely their second most commerical success.

I don't know that that kind of tour for Gravity/Happiness would work as well as Clumsy/Spiritual Machines.

Per OLP's Facebook page...

Wow, it seems like it's been way too long since we last played live doesn't it?

Make sure to check back here around 3PM EST for a special announcement!
