So it's because of Steve that they've incorporated Hope into their modern setlist!! Interesting!

I had the interview playing, but I honestly can't focus on just a sound clip like that. :)

Nice to finally hear from Steve. He gives a really good interview (although that interviewer was pretty damn annoying and uninformed).

Based on Steve's description and the 30 second clip on .NET, I think I'm going to love "Escape Artist" quite a bit.

Wow, did Steve call a DJ from 1975? That guy sounds like every stereotypical classic rock DJ.

"Does the set change much from nigh to night?" "We have a big catalog, we never play the same set twice."

What concerts were you playing guitar at?

He is right in that they make minor changes (maybe they'll play In Repair one night and Is Anybody Home another), but all in all the last tour seemed about 98% the same, from what I saw.

I mean, I'm not really complaining, and it's not a huge deal! Any OLP is great, and it's hard to argue they shouldn't play their hits since they've had so many.

But I agree in principle that it would be nice to hear a few more obscure songs here and there to please the die-hards.

Steve listen to Pantera. Yeah Dimebag .. Sad he is no longer here..

So Steve is the one to thank for Hope being back in the set. . That is my all time favorite OLP song..I was shocked when I heard they were going to put it back in the set..

I am glad to hear him so passionate and excited about this upcoming release. This is really his first cd from start to finish.. By that I mean no outside help. The last cd had Joel. Joel is a great musican. It is just nice to see Steve reach his full potential..

As for the setlist. I agree with Riley. He means they probably do not play the same set in the same order every night..

Then again it is live and anything can happen. You just never know.. Most people are not going to go to back to back shows unless you are die hard or huge fan.. If it was really a problem you would not go. I never really had aproblem with the sets. Almost every band I have seen has the same set . There are only a handful of bands who change night after night.

I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again

I find it funny that Steve wouldn't say anything even slightly negative about Bob, despite the fact that Raine hasn't exactly been shy to.

I love how the guy kept asking about the band's line-up, as if OLP changes members every so often.

Also, B-Sides and iTunes? I'm pretty confident that has NEVER happened. They put Not Afraid on Labatt Blue. That's it.

Yeah, I get the feeling Steve is the band member that has the most respect and love for the older material though, probably because he has an outside perspective like we all do. I wonder if Raine, Duncan and Jer really knows how amazing and creative The Wonderful Future and Car Crash are?

That's an interesting thought. Most people have blamed OLP's big style change on Steve (or, more accurately, the loss of Mike). But, for all we know, Steve could be the one guy's who been keeping the little elements of the "old OLP" around on the last few albums (Al Genina comes to mind, actually).

I don't blame steve at all, it would be raines influence on the band which would have the biggest on the sound, pretty sure thats why Mike left anyways isn't it?

Has there ever been a clear reason of why Mike left, besides 'musical differences'?

Mike wanted something different from what OLP was doing, maybe even from what OLP is doing right now.

in other words, shanae, no. the only explanation we were ever given was that mike left due to "creative differences", and that was it.

But the fact that OLP continued without Mike as a member in itself means that he didn't agree with the direction of the band. I guess that's hoping that they're mature enough to respect their music and didn't just split because of some lame reason. Whatever, we have Steve now so no complaints here.

Like Gail, Hope is my favourite OLP song too so I'm glad that Steve came along and reintroduced it to their set list. It also doesn't hurt that he totally owns that song live.
