U.S. A Airplay

Post by Tattooed Angels »

Many of you might or might not be aware of just how little support OLP gets on U.S.A radio. Of course the states and cities that are near the border play the band.. I am talking about the other states.. I live in NYC area. One of the biggest markerts in the states. Yet the band gets no support what so ever..

I say we should all email our stations. Even if you do not live in the city we should email the stations asking them to play the new single and cd when it comes out.. Alot of stations now can also be heard online.

Come on people. Let's get the band on all of the U.S.A and not just the states near the border. The song drops in week.

We should put links to the stations here so we can email the stations.

This CD/Song means alot to the band. They are proud of it cause they did it on their own. As fans we can help them get the media support they deserve.

I will start by putting the station link here in NYC. We just got a rock station last year that plays everyone..

I think this is a great idea Gail. Not only in the U.S., but Canada as well. If we really want this record to be big, it will probably have to happen at the grassroots level since OLP is technically an indie band now.

We can do that also.. I know there are lots of really big fans on here and the band does appreciate it. I know alot of people do not believe that, but they do. As you said it is almost grassroots.

I am also trying to get them on the morning show the day of the NYC show.. That show is the day the cd comes out so it would be perfect.

Great idea. I don't think I've ever heard them on a WV radio station, unless they jumped on the Starseed/Clumsy/Somewhere Out There bandwagons and I have no recollection since I didn't listen to the band then.

This is a great idea. Marianas Trench does this, and sends out links to their fans and tells them to request stuff. It really, really helps endorse a band.

I think the old olp.net (or maybe .com?) had a link during the Gravity days saying, "REQUEST MADE OF STEEL ON YOUR STATION!" with a link to a bunch of stations nationwide and their phone numbers/contact addresses. Something like that would be helpful for this. Hint hint, TW :D
I just wanna get out,

The single comes out tomorrow (6/9) here in the US, so everyone remember to request the shit out of it to the stations listed (and hopefully more to come).

Seattle Radio stations...

...SUCK. I don't think there will be any OLP playing today...I've tried.

The End

KISW

The Monkey

Thankfully, I can get the Zone from Victoria while at home...at least they play my OLP requests.

Not suprising seeing as AYDWSML is already Top 10 in both rock formats in Canada! Pretty impressive considering the track has been out like two weeks.

Hopefully this translates over to the States!

Doubt it. I have not heard it on the radio today and I emailed the station a few times. Going to do it again now..

I emailed the one radio station (I don't remember which one... but the request address is AllysonKolan@clearchannel.com) and request AYD.

She replied within three minutes, and said, "That is a great request! I will see what I can do!

Thanks for the email!

-Allyson"

So we got one down, I believe!

So, apparently, you have to text a request in to 107.7 the End here in Seattle...and I have been texting in the past couple of days. One of the DJ's responded that they had to look into it.....Then, after a couple of more texts, they tell me that they do not have AYDSWML...something about not being sent the single. I told her that I downloaded it from I-tunes and that I could bring it to them. Shockingly, I got no reply....

I honestly think that song is not going to get played down here. That is why I thought is a bunch of people emailed, texted or called they might play the songs. Then agian they could play it at 2:40AM when nobody except nightcrawlers are up. That is what happened with SOT down here. The station played them a few times but at odd hours when the people would not necessarily be listening to the radio..

I really would love to know why US Stations in big markets do not play the band. It is not like they suck.. Seriously bands who are awful get airplay but not OLP.. It just gets you a bit pissed off at times.

Then again as long as the fans still support them I think that is more important to the band then say the media. Media will either kiss your Ass or not. The fans are the ones who will come out to the shows, buy the music etc..

Because radio stations play mainstream music.....and they're not exactly mainstream down there.

And they suck too.
