Video: 14-part Much Music "Intimate & Interactive" 1999 interview with OLP

Post by Heavy Alibi »

Thought I'd let CMers know that someone posted a huge 14-part OLP interview on MuchMusic from 1999! I've never actually heard Mike Turner's voice until now!

Here's the link to the 1st video (and you can follow the "related videos" link to view the 13 others):

http://youtube.com/watch?v=MFh1iqUhq70

Also, they did a live version of "Stealing Babies", which is here:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=ToZ0wcK17P0

Enjoy.

Hahah, you've GOT to be kidding me. I searched for the I&I on YouTube a few days ago for someone from my Weezer board... it wasn't there, so I had to have him download AIM, then send the whole dang giant thing to him. And it gets uploaded now!?? :happyno:

Wow! I think I'm a fan to a lesser degree and even I knew forever ago that they did an I&I!

Well considering I lost access to Much on my TV a while before that and I didn't join this forum until 2005...I don't think it's surprising I didn't know it existed.

Haha yeah, I watched it yesterday. I found it funny that I uploaded the audio of that exact performance of Stealing Babies a few weeks ago.

If anybody has a decent VHS of it, I'll get it converted over. The version on the R&S compilation is awful.

Considering they were there, they better have a copy!!

I'm actually really shocked we don't have a better quality rip of this by now. I had to re-download it for my friend the other night (nooooo idea where my original copy went... must've got lost on a hdd somewhere in the past), and was really surprised when I checked it and it was so tiny. This seems like something a lot of people would've recorded!

I looked for this on youtube once, too, but couldn't find it. This is good news! I'll watch it some other time, too.

And I don't think that I've heard Mike's voice before, either. Not recently, anyways.

They actually did 2 of these. I am assuming( I did not watch the clip) this one is from lateJan 2000. They did an I&I right before they went on the "WORLD's A BLISTER TOUR" across Canana. They did another right before touring Canada again for the PARANOID TIMES Tour..

They also did one in Feb 2001( I think) in MOntreal for Musique Plus..

I have to look for it but I have it on VHS.. Since it was taped years ago I do not know how it would play now. Let me look around for it..I also have the Musique Plus one somewhere on video.. It has been years since I watched any of my OLP tapes so do not know how they will play now. I will get back to you on it..

I don't remember hearing Mike speak... um, ever. This was great. Mike's such a sweetheart, I wish he was still around. He seems like a really stand-up guy. (Okay, I like it when musicians take the chance to joke around with fans and make them feel loved... I thought his answer to the Betty or Veronica question was pretty awesome.)
