Southland Tales

Post by Lando »

FINALLY! I've been waiting for this movie to come out for YEARS!

It's going to be awesome. From the Writer/Director of Donnie Darko.

The sort of... uber-hollywood throws me off a bit. But I'll still see it as soon as it comes out anyways. :P

I Am Legend looks good.
I'm not sure about The Mist. That one looks like it might be a little too scary for me. I'm a wuss.

I also really want to see No Country for Old Men - but I want to read the book first. I've been told Cormac McCarthy is a really good writer. I've been wanting to read it since it came out in 2005, but I never got around to it.

They're really stretching for material with all the books they keep turning into movies. Sometimes it's a cool thing to see books turned into something so visually stunning, but sometimes it's just a tragedy (i.e. Beowulf, King Arthur, Troy, etc.).

The Troy Director's cut is supposed to be kick ass compared to the original which was pretty good as a standalone movie.

No Country for Old Men was the best movie I saw all year. So far, anyway. I have high hopes for Southland Tales, too, though it seems like every reviewer who sees it hates it...
I just wanna get out,
Stuck inside of this.

No Country for Old Men is getting rave reviews. I just saw that Horton Hears a Who is going to be a movie.

Of course it's great and getting amazing reviews. I haven't seen it yet, but It's a Coen brothers movie! It's pretty much impossible for them to make a bad movie. Just look at the library of films they've done.

True... but the pre-release screening here did not go over well.
Its a pretty limited audience that would appreciate it, I think.

Then the people who saw it are probably bigger fans of movies like Fred Claus, Bee Movie and Hitman. Seems closer to their intelligence level.

:(. i didn't like it. found it boring. well, it started off promising, but it just didn't hold my attention very well. the boredom took over pretty quickly.

i also don't have a low intelligence level.

It was probably one of the best movies of the year. The end dragged quite a bit, but it was to keep it the same of the book, which I didn't like, but overall the little details, the realism and how creepy the killer is works incredibly well.
