Comment on ALL OLP songs!

Post by quietorloud »

In this topic, we comment/rate/say what we like or not like, about all the olp songs I've listed here. I've got here every song from all the studio albums. Um, yeah, I'm doing this because I'm very bored.

The Birdman - cool intro on the Live DVD.
Supersatellite - meh, I don't like this song as much as other ppl, I think it is overrated.
Starseed - Same as above
Hope - This song is average. I like the outro thing with Raine's voice.
Naveed - I love this song! Love the lyrics, and everything about it! It's the only song that has ever made me cry (and I can't even cry watching movies), but that could be because I was having a bad day that day. Live version on the DVD rocks too.
Dirty Walls - This song's just okay.
Denied - same as above/
Is It Safe? - At first, I didn't really care about this song, but now I'm starting to get addicted to it.
Julia - JULIA!!! I love this song! Live piano version AND the regular version! This song is brilliant.
Under Zenith - This song is trippy.
Neon Crossing - Booyah! This is one of my favorites as well. Love the lyrics. This song rocks.
Superman's Dead - One of the first songs that got me into OLP
Automatic Flowers - I think this one is overrated
Carnival - This one's okay. I like it.
Big Dumb Rocket - Meh.. average.
4am - pure awesomness. I didn't like it the first time I heard it though. But it didn't take long for me to love it.
Shaking - eeeh.. i kinda don't like this song..
Clumsy - Booyah! My favorite song ever! I can't really explain it, I just love this song so much!
Hello Oskar - another average olp song
Let You Down - same as above
The Story of 100 Aisles - same as above
Car Crash - above average, but not in league with my favorites..
One Man Army - i really don't like the music video. song is okay.
Happiness and the Fish - sometimes I really like this song. other times, i really don't.
Potato Girl - POTATO GIRL!! One of the songs that makes Happiness my favorite album ever!
Blister - same as above!
Is Anybody Home? - I think this might be the first song I've ever heard from OLP.
Waited - Another song that makes Happiness my favorite album ever.
Thief - Doesn't everyone love this Thief?
Lying Awake - I Love this song too!
Annie - and this one too
Consequence of Laughing - I like this one, but not as much as the other songs off Happiness.
Stealing Babies - same as above.
Right Behind You (Mafia) - very catchy. I love it. One of my favs as well. I never get sick of this song.
In Repair - LIVE VERSION WOOT! Regular verison is cool too. It's also one of my favs.
Life - I like the music video. The song is great too. Another song I don;t get sick of.
Middle Of Yesterday - I really liked this song when I first heard it. Now it's just average.
Are You Sad - Very good emotional song.
Made To Heal - This song rocks too. Another song I don't get sick of. Also very catchy.
Everyone's A Junkie - At school, I met another OLP fan when a friend asked me "can I use your green pencil crayon?", and I lent her my green pencil crayon, but then I had this song stuck in my head, so I blurted out "big green monkey, everyone's a junkie" and she's like "that's OLP!"
All My Friends - This song is so-so.
If You Believe - i like this one.
The Wonderful Future - and this one too.
All For You - hmm.. not sure if I like this song, but i dont hate it.
Do You Like It - same as above
Somewhere Out There - same as above
Innocent- I don't care what anyone says about Innocent being too "pop" or catchy, I love this song!
Made Of Steel - One of my favs off of Gravity.
Not Enough - I dont like this song as much as other people do.
Sell My Soul - This song's great too
Sorry - average
Bring Back The Sun - kinda too sappy for me
A Story About A Girl - meh, average
Our Time is Fading - I didn't like thsi song. I'm glad it was only on the Live CD/DVD and didn't make it onto HIPT.
Whatever - Not a wrestling fan.. okay song.
Angels Losing Sleep - one of my favs off HIPT
Will The Future Blame Us - great song
Picture - This song's okay. I kinda got sick of it after awhile
Where Are You - NO! WHY DID THIS HAVE TO BE THE FIRST SINGLE!!!

[color=#00ffb6Boy[/color]- same as above.

The World On A String - okay song/
Don`t Stop - I don't really like this one that much..
Walking In Circles - same with this one
Al Genina (Leave A Light On) - another favorite from HIPT
Not Afraid - too bad it didn't make it on any album
Out Of here - eeh.. meh'

Now your turn! You know you wanna!
I don't do sigs.

Wow, life must be really different if you're a boy. Lots of OLP songs and almost all Matt Good songs have made me cry at some point - plus loads by other bands.

I did that once. I think it was in the summer and I was an insomniac so I stayed up and wrote a paragraph about what I thought of every song. And then rated them. And then made a master list of how I rated the songs. And then I realized that my rating was totally off and that I liked some songs that got a lower score better than others. And then I planned on doing it again. But it never happened.

Then you think you will inspire

(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.

I should be doing my English assignment... Procrastination + bordem + 6:00 in the morning with nothing else to do =

The Birdman - I like this song. I really, really want to hear it live.
Supersatellite - I always thought I didn't like this song, but I like it when I'm listening to it.
Starseed - I'm not sure about this one. It's pretty good, but it's definitely not one of my favourite olp songs.
Hope - I actually don't like this song. I like the "into the dark, is anybody there?" part of the song, but that's about it.
Naveed - Who could NOT love this song? This is such a great song! :love:I love this song on the live DVD (I listen to it over and over; I think it's the best song on the DVD). I love the lyrics, and absolutely everything about it... I could write a novel about all the reasons why I think this song is so great... but I won't.
Dirty Walls - I never liked this song much, but I'm starting to like it more.
Denied - I downloaded a live version of this song a long time ago, and I didn't like it, so now every time I hear it I think of the live version and I don't know if I like the CD version..
Is It Safe? - When I first heard this song, I thought it was so different from the other songs on the CD. It really stands out (atleast for me). I love it.
Julia - It's okay.
Under Zenith - I like this song. It was my msn name a few weeks ago.
Neon Crossing - Hmmm. I can't say I like this song. It's my least favourite from the Naveed CD.
Superman's Dead - Love love love love love. The lyrics are great. I love it live.
Automatic Flowers - I like this song a lot, but I don't like the music video.
Carnival - I love this song so much. I want to hear this one live, too.
Big Dumb Rocket - I think it's okay.
4am - I will always love this song.
Shaking - I used to hate this song, but now I really like it. Weird.
Clumsy - Clumsy is the best! It's probably my second or third favourite olp song. I'll never get sick of this song. Oh, and on a quiz I took somewhere ("Which OLP song are you?") I got clumsy.
Hello Oskar - Can I skip this one? *skips it*
Let You Down - I like parts of this song, but overall I don't like it.
The Story of 100 Aisles - It's good.
Car Crash - I've cried for this song atleast once. I love this song.
One Man Army - I love this song too.
Happiness and the Fish - I like this song, but if I listen to it too much I can't go back to it for awhile.
Potato Girl - I like this song. I wish I had more to say about it.
Blister - When I got the Happiness CD, I only liked three songs after the first listening of it. Blister was one of them. The others were Thief and One Man Army.
Is Anybody Home? - I like the song and the music video. Atleast, I think I like the music video. I've only seen it once, a few years ago.
Waited - I've spent more than five minutes thinking about what to write for this song, but I just don't know how to put it into words.
Thief - Thief is my favourite song on Happiness. It's also my favourite music video and one of the songs I sing the most (when nobody is listening, ofcourse).
Lying Awake - I don't really like this song.
Annie - I've always liked this song. Everytime I hear it, it reminds me of this one time when I ran away from home with my sister (well, technically we didn't run away... It's complicated). I packed up everything I loved and brought it with me, so obviously my CD player and olp CDs had to come, and I remember singing it with her.
Consequence of Laughing - The last two songs on the Happiness CD are my least favourite olp songs. Out of the two of them, I think I like this one slightly more.
Stealing Babies - See above.
Right Behind You (Mafia) - I love this song. I was listening to Spiritual Machines last night, and I really missed this song. Why don't I have it on my computer??
In Repair - I hate the music video for it, but the song is awesome! The live DVD version is really good.
Life - I completely agree with quietorloud on this one  The music video is good, the song is good, and I'll never get sick of it either. In my gr. 11 Philosophy class, one assignment we had was to bring in a song to play for the class (I forget why). I played this one, and another girl played Thief.
Middle Of Yesterday - This is my third favourite song on SM.
Are You Sad - Couldn't you just listen to the live DVD version of this song forever? It's SO good. I could write a novel about this one too.
Made To Heal - Has anyone else ever started singing this one, and ended up singing a mixed version of Made To Heal/Made of Steel? Made of Steel yeah-e-yeah... :P
Everyone's A Junkie - Good, but not great.
All My Friends - I don't like this song. I like the lyrics, though.
If You Believe - I need to listen to this one more often.
The Wonderful Future - I love Raine's voice on this one.
All For You - The first time I heard it, I actually didn't like it, which surprises me now because it's one of my favourite songs.
Do You Like It - Love it.
Somewhere Out There - This is my favourite song. I love this song for many reasons. One reason, is because it's the first olp song I can remember hearing. I'm also very attached to this song for sentimental reasons.
Innocent- I love everything about this song.
Made Of Steel - Great song.
Not Enough - I love it. It's just so good.
Sell My Soul - This song has made me cry, too. I love this song...
Sorry - I read the lyrics for this song for an assignment in my Canadian Literature class.
Bring Back The Sun - I didn't like this song for a very long time. Now I like it, though.
A Story About A Girl - I loved it the first time I heard it, and I still love it.
Our Time is Fading - I like this song.
Whatever - Good song. My Dad was watching wrestling one day and they played it.
Angels Losing Sleep - I love it, and it just keeps getting better the more I hear it.
Will The Future Blame Us - Now everytime I hear it, it reminds me of Massey Hall when Raine climbed onto the balcony because it was during this song.
Picture - This is my favourite song on HIPT. This song has a lot of firsts for me associated with it: first song heard live (in person), first song played at first olp concert, first song played at first concert ever.
Where Are You - I hate that I hate this song! I don't want to, but I just can't stand it after hearing it on the radio and seeing it on TV 40 billion times.
Wipe That Smile Off Your Face - This is a good song.
Love And Trust - Great song.
Boy - I like it.
Apology - Beautiful song.
The World On A String - The first time I heard this song on the actual CD, I cried. It was at the "your lips feel liked they're glued together, and no-one gives a daaammn" part. I'm not sure why...
Don`t Stop - I LOVE this song. And sometimes I like it, but right now it's love.
Walking In Circles - I cried for this one too- what's wrong with me?
Al Genina (Leave A Light On) - This one's sad.
Not Afraid - Love it.
Out Of here - I recently had an Out Of Here phase. I played it 37 times in a row.
Souls, although where we meet. This
Hose a lazy Morphine.
But I, I’m stretching to see over
Your shoulders and past your priest
And paper cups and paper shoes
Give backs to me, but I see right
through

Here's my two cents

Naveed:
The Birdman - Great opener, I love on the dvd when they just jam out.
Supersatellite - I like the song, but just seems like a filler
Starseed - I guess technically this is the first song I heard from olp, but didn’t really know who they were, and at the time wasn't really into them. But great straight up rock song.
Hope - Awesome and one of the only slow songs on this cd
Naveed- Just love it, when I bought this album, first song I listened to
Dirty Walls - I like the awkward scream Raine gives in the middle of the song
Denied - Actually this is tied with Naveed for favorite song of the album, when I listen to it I can really feel the energy in the song.
Is It Safe?- This song reminds me of Zeppelin for some reason
Julia - I like this song, but the piano version is much better. It’s amazing how different the two are.
Under Zenith - Raine’s voice really sounds like Bono in this one. I likes it
Neon Crossing . I use to skip this song a lot, one day I just gave it a listen and thought to myself why, why did I skip it?

Clumsy:
Superman's Dead - This is the song that first got my interest. I remember I was in middle school, and my sister listened to it all the time. I love the new take on it live, it makes it seem fresh again and I actually prefer the newer version.
Automatic Flowers - I was obsessed with this song for awhile
Carnival - I likes it
Big Dumb Rocket - Love this song, weird song, but great nonetheless
4am - Classic
Shaking-alright
Clumsy - Another song that helped spark the interest
Hello Oskar - Not a big fan of this one
Let You Down - I actually find this to be very catchy
The Story of 100 Aisles - like it, but skip it sometimes.
Car Crash - Last year I had to be at work very early and I was out of town, (it was only a 2 hour drive) but I had not slept at all that night I had about 30 mins left of driving and all of the sudden I was pulling into my apartment with no recollection of how I got their and this song playing.

Happiness is not a fish….:
One Man Army - When I first got this cd, I use to only listen to this song, don’t know why.
Happiness and the Fish - Good song, and has one of my favorite lyrics.
Potato Girl - One of my favorites of the album
Blister - Love this song, vocally one of Raine’s best
Is Anybody Home? - I like this song, but for some reason I can get easily sick of it
Waited - Great song
Thief - Of course this song is amazing
Lying Awake - good song, funny how it’s about Benny Hinn
Annie - I like it
Consequence of Laughing - I use to hate this song, but a friend of mine loved it and told me to give it another shot. I did, and for some reason it just clicked. Weird song, but good nonetheless.
Stealing Babies - Great way to end the album

Spiritual Machines:
Right Behind You (Mafia) - I at first use to skip this song because I would just start listening to In Repair, but finally listened to it and loved it.
In Repair - This is the song that made me a fan, have yet to grow tired of it.
Life - I remember hearing this song on the radio once, then never again. This was the first OLP song I had heard since Clumsy. This before I had gotten into them. Great song
Middle Of Yesterday - I was obsessed with this song for awhile
Are You Sad - The reason I got this album was because of this song right here. I had a close friend who had committed suicide. I heard a clip of this song at FYE, and for whatever reason it clicked. I bought the album right then and their
Made To Heal - I likes it
Everyone's A Junkie - Weird but good
All My Friends - I love this song, especially at the end when Raine goes into complete falsetto mode
If You Believe - I love this song
The Wonderful Future - This song is great, it so simple and beautiful

Gravity:
All For You - Good
Do You Like It - Catchy
Somewhere Out There - A little sappy for my taste, but you know I like this song
Innocent- This is initially the song that finally got me into OLP. At the time the only album I owned from OLOP was Clumsy. I really liked this song and got it for my birthday. I was talking about the song with a friend and he recommended I get Happiness and Spiritual Machines, for Gravity was dog shit compared to those two. And that’s where the obsession began.
Made Of Steel - Good song, catchy
Not Enough - The first time I listened to this album, this was probably the second song I listened to the most. Good song
Sell My Soul - I likes it
Sorry - Very positive song
Bring Back The Sun - Probably favorite song of the album, love the acoustic version
A Story About A Girl - I really like this song

Healthy In Paranoid Times:
Angels Losing Sleep - My favorite OLP song, will never grown tired of this song! NEVER!
Will The Future Blame Us - GREAT
Picture - I actually was a little disappointed with this song. It was hyped as one of the most beautiful OLP songs. But I thought it was to overproduced. But the more I listened to it, the better it got. Good song
Where Are You - I was first turned off by this song. It just seemed really off to me. But it clicked when I heard it live, and I think it works way better live.
Wipe That Smile Off Your Face - First song from the album I heard. It was preformed in Tulsa in July 03 at edge rocks the river. And damn was it good. The crowd completely moshed on this one. Have yet to hear the version where Steve has an insane guitar solo. Don’t know which concert that was from.
Love And Trust - Good song
Boy - This song for some reason really puts me in a good mood. It bugs the crap out of me that people call this a U2 knock off. It’s well known that U2 is a big influence to Raine and the band. I simply see at a homage to them if anything.
Apology - Great song. I agree with those who say this song could just go on. It’s so relaxing.
The World On A String - Very different and very catchy
Don’t Stop - I like this song. It gets better in the second chorus and just takes of from their.
Walking In Circles - This is the second song I heard from this album, again live. Good
Al Genina (Leave A Light On) - This is a song that I again was initially disappointed with. It seemed to have so much potential and then it’s cut short. But it’s still a good song, sad, but good.

The Others:
Our Time is Fading - Heavy song, it’s good.
Whatever - Good song.
Not Afraid - LOVE IT!! Probably my second favorite OLP song.
Out Of here - For a demo it’s amazing. I wish it was on Naveed, but oh well. It’s so long ago no reason to bitch now.

HI, I am a huge OLP fan and I am new to the fourm.
Not exactly sure what I am doing, just feeling my way around here.

I love OLP obviously, so many great songs to listen to. I have all their albums and I am always looking for OLP merchandise to buy. I have a big collection.
