Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Movie 5!)

Post by Joey »

So since I'm a huge HP nerd .. I am already anxiously awaiting the next movie and here's some stuff on the 5th movie so far:

* Filming for "Order of the Phoenix" will begin in February 2006.

* Most of the cast will be returning but no official word on Tom Felton yet. Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid) has also talked about not wanting to return but they're still in negotiations with him :(

* Director David Yates has already gone through the entire film using storyboards. He apparently "brings a real sensitivity and humanity to the film."

* Grawp will not only be featured in the film but will be a fully digital character. There's apparently some great stuff with Grawp in the script.

* The filmmakers intend to have the Black family tapestry in the film and want it to be 100% accurate and correct. JK Rowling has been involved in ensuring all the required detail is included.

* Filming for "Order of the Phoenix" will be across locations in the United Kingdom. After considering moving to a cheaper European Country, the Powers that Be decided, despite expense, it'd be easiest to remain in Britain.

* Although not officially confirmed, it is said that this book will be a one movie affair and not be split into two movies. Whether they're willing to make it longer, or whether they'll condense to the usual 2 hours 15 minutes, will not be known for some time.

* As for new characters, Imelda Staunton has been cast as Professor Umbridge. I think she's perfect:

:D

The final word on who will be playing Luna Lovegood will be announced within the next couple of weeks.

I WILL KEEP THIS THREAD ALIVE UNTIL THE MOVIE COMES OUT WHICH IS JUNE 2007

Heck, I really liked Sirius. I thought he was the abosloute coolest, my favorite character. And then he had to go and die. I'm going to be bawling during the movie. A total wreck. And Dumbledore! It's like they're just killing off all the father figures Harry's ever had. Lupin will be next, I bet.

The woman who's playing Umbridge has the smile! The perfect one! Luna is another of my favorite characters (I see a lot of myself in her) so let's hope they pick someone good to play her. Have I talked enough yet?

I love the characters of Sirius and Lupin  I was more upset over Sirius dying than I was over Dumbledore but both had me in tears. I really hope they make the death of Sirius meaningful in this movie and not just play it off like it's no big deal like they did with Cedric's death in the 4th movie. They better not kill off Lupin. Oh god, that would be horrible.

Eh .. I have a lot of complaints on the 4th movie

i hated the ending because it wasn't supposed to be a happy ending and the movie made it seem like that. it was a really cheesey ending .. ron said "do you think we'll ever have a quiet year at hogwarts" and hermione and harry both said "no" together and then ron said "ah well, what's life without a few dragons."

i was just like :wtf:

it just sort of implied that it was no big deal that a student had just been murdered, that Harry witnessed the whole thing and that one of the most powerful dark wizards of all time was back. if you've read the books you know cedric dying was a rather traumatic event for harry and they played it off like he was barely affected by it afterwards in the movie.

*shrugs*

i'm just thankful that director isn't doing the fifth one. i would have cried.

i can't wait for this movie already. brand new writer, too.

just to add a few afterthoughts to joey's list, apparently tonks has been cast too, but they aren't telling us who it is yet. david whatshisface (i forget his last name. lupin's actor)'s partner said she wanted to be tonks, though, so it might be her. and mrs weasley is definitely going to be in this movie
