now, either no one made a thread about this movie (in which case, shame on you people!) or someone did and i just can't find it.

i just saw this movie tonight. a multitude of words come to mind. "wow", "amazing", "breathtaking", "incredible". take your pick.

anyone else see it?

I haven't seen it yet, but I hope to while it's still in theaters. If not, I'll definately see it when it comes out on DVD...but I get the feeling that this one will be better on the big screen.

I liked it. Nothing amazingly revolutionary or life changing (I don't want to know how someone would live after King Kong changed their life...), but it was entertaining and interesting. So, hooray.

yeah, it was definitely well made.

i found it incredibly cheesy at times, but still really good.

now maybe he'll get started on The Hobbit :love:

Actually the movie is only 3 hours (187 mins.)

However, it does NOT feel 3 hours long. It's Peter Jackson, his last major project was the LOTR trilogy. Detail is his obsession, so he's not going to screw movie goers over to cut a film down because Hollywood big-wigs feel it should be shorter.

Anyone who said this movie isn't worth your money, shouldn't really ever give their opinion of a film again for as long as they live. It's that simple. In fact, they're probably fans of Paul W.S Anderson's work. (Okay, so most of you don't know who that is)

Anyway, this movie isn't perfect, but honestly what movie is? There are indeed cheesy parts, but for a reason (which I'll get into) however saying "incredibly cheesy" only means that you didn't understand WHY they were so important to the film. If anyone's seen the original King Kong, or for that matter any old movie from the 1930's or 40's, you'd understand how important keeping the integrity of the original film was to Mr. Jackson and I'm sure the producers and screenwriters as well.

Most of you who don't really know a whole lot about movies, but nonetheless enjoy them and watch them for just that reason probably haven't seen the old movies I'm talking about and if you were to watch them, so much of their material and acting seems INCREDIBLY cheesy compared to today's movies. They wanted to incorporate the look, the feel, the acting and the dialogue of what a major blockbuster film was like back when the original left audiences in awe so many years ago. This remake not only stays true to that style/feel (minus of course the benefit of technology's advancements allowing CGI to play a major role in the creation of this film), but they even went so far as to make the credits resemble the feel of an old film. Much like what Tarantino did with the opening of the Kill Bill movies, to pay homage to the way old martial arts movies started, with the "FEATURE PRESENTATION" or whatever it says and the crackling old sounding audio.

Okay, I don't mean to say you need to understand old movies or need to see the original. If anything, that's the least important thing to mention by trying to convince everyone to go see this movie. In fact, I've barely scratched the surface of comparisons and other movie information I could get into, but then the length of my post would probably crash the entire site!

This movie is indeed worth your money, in fact for any movie goer for the simple reason that it has so much it can give each different type of audience member. It thrives on emotion, because if you do take this film seriously and allow it to completely envelop you, flaws and all, everyone who sees it will feel something, whether it's excitement, exhilaration, fear, sorrow, joy, or even helplessness. It could be anything, but that alone, I personally feel is persuasion enough.

A movie's job is to entertain, to play with people's emotions and this movie succeeds in drawing out your emotions if you let it. Whether you end up liking the film or not, that alone is it's success, because that's what movies are supposed to do. Everyone connects with a movie for their own reasons, it's how people distinguish what film will be one of their favourites and why. I'm not sure that I'll ever say this movie is one of my all time favourites over-all, but it's definitely a masterpiece in it's own right.

I have to agree with Lando. The movie was fantastic, and it didn't feel that long at all.

Plus the King Kong vs. 3 T Rexes fight scene is the greatest fight scene ever made. My boyfriend and I both concluded this. End of discussion.

i would love to see him direct a harry potter movie :nod:

the books are so long and so much gets cut out since the movies are only 2 hours .. a 3 hour hp movie would be wonderful.

You should see it. It's fantastic and he's totally brilliant. You can definitely tell that he's been dreaming of making this movie all his life.
