13th song?

Post by carleiu »

I know this has probably been covered before, but after reading the interview with duncan posted today on ourladypeace.cc, I was wondering--what are the interviewer and duncan talking about when with the 12 or 13 track question. Duncan then says something like, "it's an antisong actually....a little move at the end of the record"

I remember reading something about the band narrowing the album down to 13 songs when HIPT first came out, but i thought it was a misprint or something.

I think Duncan was miscounting. The so-called "13th song" he's probably talking about is Al Genina, and there are only 12. Although there were previously supposed to be 13.

I'm not sure, because the interviewer posed the question as, "I'm confused...are there 12 or 13 songs on the album" and duncan said, "There are 13 actually.........", the last song is an antisong really...it's just a little "move" at the end of the record.

What does he mean by "move?" Or is that a misprint. Do you think Al Genina is an "anti-song?" (whatever that means...) Maybe the band's just messing with us or trying to mystify the album...

If the album was originally supposed to be 13 songs, do you know what song was cut?

Thanks in advance for putting up with all my questions.

I think maybe they both misunderstood each other... the interviewer was wondering based off the press release with the bit about 13 songs, Duncan, not realizing the bit about the discrepancy between press release and actual CD, was confused and figured Al Genina must've been what the interviewer was talking about. *shrugs*

I don't know what the 13th song was. I think the number 13 was still around after Vampires was cut.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one slightly confused by that.

I was much more interested in this "side project" Duncan's got going on, though. I could barely find anything about it online... hopefully we'll hear more about it when it's released.

Or we could ask him :D
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

Are any of us truly clothed?

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever
