Kaegan gets to eat with OLP

Post by Axtech »

Kaegan (Jaded on the hub) came on today talking about this contest his local radio station was having. They were giving away tickets to have breakfast with OLP, and then see a live acoustic performance. He needed to call in with the reason that he should get the tickets.

Jen came up with one suggestion:

[11:29] < afealicious> your dog died in a car accident and clumsy reminds you of him/her/it
[11:30] < Axtech> haha
[11:30] < Axtech> Especially Car Crash
[11:30] < afealicious> or even Superman's Dead!
[11:30] < afealicious> because your dog was Superman.

Johny came up with another:

[11:34] <Dr.Johny> tell'em that you want to slap Raine around with a rubber chicken
[11:34] <jaded> that would be pretty awesome, I should do that anyway

And then I combined them:

[11:35] < Axtech> Tell them that you want to meet them so much that you went to the online OLP community to get suggestions, and the only crap we could come up with was "my dog died and Clumsy reminds me of him", and "I want to slap Raine with a rubber chicken".

He called in with that, and ended up winning! :GASP:

So, congrats to Kaegan! He gets to have breakfast with OLP! :nana: :jer:

I made my own thread then realized there was already one, so here's what I had posted...

Okay, as you all probably know, the Fox in Vancouver had a contest to win breakfast with OLP. They will be playing a live accoustic set, which will be broadcast on the radio (someone better record that, incase I get to play drums or something!). So anyway, they had a contest to win, and what you had to do this morning was call and leave a message saying why you want to go to the OLP breakfast. I left three messages. The first of which was from my home phone, I said Jeremy was my favorite drummer and I really wanted to meet him. The second one i said I wanted to see them because their Commodore show is a 19+ show. Then after asking in the Hub, Axtech recommended I say the following...

- [11:35] Tell them that you want to meet them so much that you went to the online OLP community to get suggestions, and the only crap we could come up with was "my dog died and Clumsy reminds me of him", and "I want to slap Raine with a rubber chicken".

I said it like that, almost word for word. So I kept listening to the Fox, and finally they started talking about it. They played a bunch of clips of what people had said, one of which was the one where I said that the commodore show was a 19+ show. Then they said, "Now we're going to annouce the winner" and they PLAYED my clip! I was so shocked, then they said, "Let's try and give him a call" and my phone rang. I picked up, explained what the Hub was, and that I had tried getting suggestions. The DJ said it was his job to hit Raine with a rubber chicken. So they took down my name, gave me all the details, and that's that! I'm going to take lots of pictures, get stuff signed, and I will of course, post a huge story about everything that happened! I want Smooke to get a satellite rip of the entire show from 6am-10pm if possible. I don't go in until 7:30, but I'd like to have a memory of the whole show. They'll be playing accoustic songs too, so it'll be totally worth it for you guys.

Cheers! And thanks so much AxTech!

There will be other winners having breakfast too, and yes I forgot to mention that the combination of the two was crucial, so thank you to afealicious and Dr. Johnny! I'll make sure to give a shoutout from everyone here at the CM.

I believe 20 more people, which is 10 winners including guests. So I am VERY VERY VERY lucky! I don't even think it'll be 20 people, since they're giving away one chance a day all this week, so it might only be like 14 or so!

I will totally bring a tape recorder, or my video camera. I wonder if they'd let me record it! That would be awesome! I'd look a bit strange, but meh!

Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.
