Worst song in HIPT?

Post by Fabio_kun »

It's definately from being a brilliant album, but it's got it's nice moments. On the other hand, there are some very boring tunes... what are your least favorites in the album?

World On A String

Could go on an American Pie soundtrack. Oh man, can't believe they cut tunes like Not Afraid to put World On A String on the record...

Wouldn't it be good to save these threads for after the cd is released, so everyone can particupate in a spam free manner for a page or two?

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever

I don't think one song is bad and I'm loving the return of weird sounding OLP:

-World on a String
-Boy
-Apology
-Angels Losing Sleep
-Al Genina

Those 4 are the most non-OLP songs which is AMAZING. They're a new sound. The rest of the CD is classic OLP taken up a notch which means they're the best OLP so far.

-Will the Future Blame Us?
-Picture
-Don't Stop
-Love and Trust
-Wipe that Smile off your Face
-Walking in Circles

Those are in my top 10 OLP songs ever. Beautifully done.

Mods got tired of deleting post after post of people being disrespectful to the people who are waiting for the album to be released to listen to it. :P

seriously, the new album is OFFICIALLY released in what....a week? you couldn't have held off until then?

also, this thread and "favorite tune in HIPT" could have easily been melded into one homogenized thread.

bah.

I don't know why, but I really like Don't Stop. It's just a catchy song, and I love they lyric, "Everyone's losing their mind, Healthy in paranoid times." I don't know. It reminds me of Happiness & The Fish because of the album title being a lyric in it.

And I love: "And I want you to know, I want you to know, I'd die for you, I'd DIE For You!" Raine's voice just seems to be really into the song, and i like it.

Where Are You is my least favorite, even though i've found that catchy at times too.

i agree that 'where are you' is probably the weakest of the songs on this album, but it ain't the worst. i personally don't see a "bad" song on this album, just ones that are very... un-olp.
"if the nuremberg trials were applied to us foreign policy, every us president since 1945 would have been hanged." noam chomsky.

...and this is me hanging on / i'd burn our initials in the sun if it would shine / anxiety chokes me like razor wire / if hate's in your heart man, you'll take what you're given / wake up / i'm not the only one / it's never goodbye / go ahead and play dead / if everyone's a casualty, then take your time, there ain't no trouble / these wounds they will not heal / ambition can be a tricky thing / what the hell do i know about rape anyway? / this is not what i hoped for / ain't it so weird how it makes you a weapon / who will be there to tell me how stupid i am? / those living for death will die by their own hand / and it's me that I am spying on / pick up the pieces and live with the stars / hurry up and wait / things have never been so swell / they're always the ones who slowly drift / be great / ...and this is my world.

Thats a good way to describe it. Musically, none of the songs are "bad" their just different then OLP's usual sounds. Where are you really isnt that bad of a song, its just...different.

Its actually got a fairly deep meaning behind it, which is surprising because of how simple the lyrics are.

honest to god i bet if where are you wasnt a single, and was just another song on the cd, we wouldnt hate it as much and may have actually liked it alot more. The reason i think people arnt huge fans of it, is because the band could have picked so many better songs off the cd to be singles but instead chose where are you.
