digital cameras

Post by beautiful liar »

hmm. i dont know if there's been a thread on this but i dont recall one.

anyways, i'm looking to buy a digicam. i want the canon powershot s2 is, but it's about $100 more than i really can afford to spend. but i'm hesitant to buy the s1 when the major flaws users have found (focus errors, speed, and noise being the main concerns) have been addressed in the s2.

in terms of other brands, the panasonic dmc-fz5 comes highly recommended, but seems a little less versitile in terms of manual operation. same goes for the sonys of similar proportion

does anyone have any suggestions for other cameras i should look at? or any input as to the ones i'm considering?

less than $600 cnd

i would prefer something around $450 - $500, but i'll go a bit above that if the camera is worthwhile.

i'm looking for something with around a 10x optical zoom, no less than 3 mp, but i don't need more than 5 mp. and i want manual focus, apature, and shutter speed options.

I'm not sure how much this one'll cost Canadian (you could probably find it within your price range online somewhere), but this is the camera I'm gonna be looking into whenever I can afford to get a new one:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... o&n=507846

The reviews are kinda mixed, though. I'm hoping to find it in a store to play with it and check out some more varied pictures it's taken before getting it. The ones on Amazon look really nice, but there's no darker/night shots.

I've always had Kodak cameras. The next digital camera I buy is going to be a Kodak 6mp. My mom has a Fuji digital and it seems to do really well also.

see i dont care about having a lot of mps because i wont be enlarging my photos much. i would be perfectly happy with 4 or 5, and i'll probably end up settling for 3.2. most people never use the megapixels they have anyways. what i do want is the zoom capability and to be able to manually set focus, shutter and aperture, because i dont like using auto settings on cameras. i need a good range of f-stops, a large optical zoom, and preferably some kind of image stabalizer, and the capability for lens attachment.

the reason why i wont buy a kodak are that the ones i've looked at (including the 2 nam showed me) have no image stablization, and that's a feature i want.

the cameras i'm debating between are the canon s1 is, the panasonic dmc-fz5, and the konica minolta dimage z3.

i think i'm gonna call around tomorrow and see which stores have these cameras and how they're priced.

I was considering getting rid of mine and learning how to remember things and draw really well. Except not at all. Buy an Olympus. From Staples. My Staples. With a warranty

:GASP: expensive!

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever
