not really.

it's just some stupid radio station countdown. it's not like it's billboard or something.

I'd have to disagree. It's a representation of the general population's liking of the song, and I think that's pretty significant. Remember, it's the votes that determine the places of the songs in the countdown.

just because a song is popular among the general population, doesn't mean it's good.

Let it go guys. THe Edge is a huge radio station and the single's initial popularity is interesting. I'm sure this thread can act as a beacon for radio popularity anyways.

Anyone who believes that the people decide where the song will be placed on the countdown is a sucker. The fact is the people in charge of the edge decide what songs go where and countdowns are merely a ploy to get listeners to feel involved and therefore attached to the station. Maybe the song is popular. Frankly I don't care. But it's important for you guys to realize that the public does not decide how a song gets ranked, because if it were up to votes we'd be seeing songs sky rocket to the top instantly (and not even Speed of sound by Coldplay went #1 instantly).
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.
