It's not out yet, but man oh man, pretty damn good

Nope, I wait for the actual cd releases of my favorite bands before listening. Beck's one of my automatic buys. :nod:

I heard the single, though... sounds like Beck's back to his old crazy self! :duncan:

I like depressed, where's my acoustic guitar Beck more than the weird electonically tinged Beck. I really don't care for his first two albums at all. I thought "Mellow Gold" was terrible. Yep, I'm just a "Mutations" and "Sea Change" kind of guy. That said, this is a pretty solid record. Old sounding enough to please the old fans, but his voice sounds in tip top shape like it did on "Sea Change" (even though they're not the same kind of albums at all).

I still haven't heard the mastered version of it yet.

yea I was def digging th Sea Change album, I think it's awesome how he changed his music to suit the BS in his life at that time, most artist try that but fail miserably

Just so you know, "Mellow Gold" was actually his third album. Preceding it were "One Foot in the Grave" and "Stereopathetic Soulmanure". They're... different. :lol:

He also had an album that was only released on vinyl... I forget the name and I'm too lazy to go get it... argh, Google's not finding anything, so I guess that means I've gotta move... *finds* ahh, yes, it's called "A Western Harvest Field by Moonlight"... woah... "Originally pressed in 1994 at 3,000. It's been repressed three times: 2000 in 1995, 1000 in 1997, and 1000 more in 1998." Hah, guess this thing's pretty rare.

I know about One Foot In the Grave. But I was, you know, talking about major releases. Sort of how like I still consider "SCIENCE" to be Incubus' first album even though it isn't.

I love the video (not to mention the song). It's what got me so excited for the album.

And, yeah, I can imagine some mixed reviews. It's definitely not an album for everyone... but it's definitely a Beck album. <3

Oh yeah, and I should mention (cos you can't really tell with all the ascii, plus the poor quality of the file) that everyone in the video minus the girl dancers is Beck. :duncan:

If anyone really liked it, feel free to come on the hub and grab the vob (DVD file... perfect DVD quality from the deluxe edition of the album) from me. I've also got the non-ascii version which isn't nearly as cool, but it's neat to see what the pictures were before converted to ascii.

I think I would put it on par with "Mutations." It's good, but I only think one or two songs could be lumped together with past Beck songs as "classic."
