Why is everyone so negative about OLP lately?

This is for you, this is for us...

i know im gonna piss a lot of people off, but from my personal views i would like to tell half of you to shut the hell up and get off the forum . if all you can do is bitch and moan about this band, just shut up. i dont care if your a hardcore fan, if your gonna bitch and moan about the new stuff, or anything just leave and go bitch to others. im sick of hearing these things. the new music is not that damn bad. who wants to produce the same cd over and over which seems like yall want them to do, just leave the guys alone and keep bashing to a minimum. (sorry, just had to vent some frustration)

Yeah. Here's the most common reply to that...

If you don't like the complaining so much, perhaps you need to learn some tolerance of the views of others. Everyone has an opinion. You know that your opinion is going to piss people off (you just said so). Does that mean that you should be told to shut up and leave the board? No. So, the same goes for those others that have negative opinions of the new stuff.

you know what? you just recently joined this place and you're telling everyone else that you're tired of the bickering and that those who do should leave this forum.... does that make sense to anyone?

The fact is we all don't have to be lovey dovey with OLP at every moment of our lives. I think everyone here can claim to be some of OLP's biggest fans. We've spent hundreds, and some people thousands of dollars to see them and purchase their merchandise. Just because a lot of us have lost some interest in the band because of their direction does not mean that we don't belong on this forum. If you want the supposed "hardcore" fans go to the CC, where everyone there wants to have Raine's children.
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

just because someone just joined or found out about this place doesnt mean theyre any less of a fan.

i may not have 2 million posts but just cuz i dont does that make you or any of the other 40 or so ppl above me in terms of post count are "More hardcore fans" then me?
not really

ive been a fairly big fan of the band for a while.. i travelled from halifax to barrie to see them once.. (they managed to play closer but not till AFTER i started school so i couldnt go.. so i went to barrie instead)
thats a 20 some hour drive. am i "proud" and "bragging" about it? fuck no

i didnt even know about the CC back then.. but that means jack shit ..

just because the person joined recently and is still obviously a big fan and is just sick of all the bashing and snapped.

it happens plenty of times.. if i were to say something about alkaline trio or matt good.. i'd have many ppl down my throat.. (sorry.. they were the 2 bands that we seem to talk about and a lot of ppl still like)

I think his point was that this person has been on the board a short time and is saying he (she? sorry, don't know your sex) is sick of people on here, and thinks people should leave the board.

I most of us are just left disenchanted since the band went though their big change. Since I waited and waited for gravity, and was sorely disappointed by it, I've lost interest and enthusiasm for them.

I listen to the old stuff, but there's a bazillion awesome bands out there.

Thus, I advise you to enjoy OLP, but branch out into other stuff.

I'm sorry for having an opinion that's not pro-OLP. I retract everything I said. I love mediocre at best music. Go OLP! Keep churning out bad music! I love it!
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

Edit: This was in reply to Susan.

Exactly. I still love Naveed to SM like nobody's business. Gravity... I can't listen to the whole thing through. I listen to a song or two now and then.

indeed, the fact that some of us aren't gravity fans doesn't mean that we're no longer fans of their first four albums.

alan.. there is nothing wrong with not liking OLP
i just think the guy/girl who snapped is just upset.. its normal.. if i were to say alk3 sucked horse cock you'd be pissed.

to "borrow" something you yourself said a while ago in some other thread,
theirflowers11 is just "defending" a band they still love.
thats their opinion. you have yours. they have theirs.

as for what you said susan. i agree.. there are plenty of other great bands out there and EVERYONE should branch out. not just olp fans or anyone else, everyone needs it. it makes life better.
go fuck yourself.

Sand, I wouldn't flip out if you didn't like ALK3, I would just tell you some good songs and that you're wrong.

It's not that I don't like the first four albums. I've had to buy Spiritual Machines three times, and had to buy Happiness, Clumsy, and Naveed twice. I love those cds. I listened to Happiness before every single tennis match of mine from my sophomore to senior year. Before I got Happiness, I listened to Clumsy. Those albums are great, the new stuff just isn't good.

We all know what OLP is capable of. This is about 1/10 of what they can do. Like I told Val, it is just wrong when you can write amazing songs, but now find yourself rhyming "there" with "there."
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.
