Who's actually supporting this war.

Serious discussion area.

Banning you would be because of flaming, not because of politics...

Banning is pointless when the person can create a new username and come right back .. doesn't anybody realize that?

Venom, you can't use the free speech defense here. You're the one that thinks killing protestors is quite alright. She was using her free speech and she died for it, but now that you're using yours and might get banned from an Our Lady Peace board, you're saying "I was given the right to insult everyone on this board that I don't like" and you're wrong. Die by your words buddy, you said free speech is bad for protestors, but it's quite alright when you don't have a website to insult people you don't even know? Why don't you just stop.

Edit: I'll give you what you want, an apology. I am sorry for not agreeing with Bush, and of course, you. I'm sorry I didn't know you tried to get into the air force. Beyond that, you messed up. You flamed. You will get what you deserve soon enough.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

PLEASE people if you're gonna try and quote me do it right. I NEVER said protestors couldn't portes!!! NEVER!!!! In fact I said that its their right and if they feel the need then do it. (Now read carefully you may learn something) What I did say is that they shouldn't be allowed to obstruct others rights by blocking work, transportation, etc. Especially when the people affected could care less what they have to say much less agree.

What we have here, is a failure to communicate. Let's keep this civil people. Doug and my debates have been much more productive since we put a cease to the flaming. Nobody is going to take you seriously if you blow up when trying to defend yourself. All it does it make your position look worse. I for one, don't want someone fighting for my cause that chooses such methods. I also don't give a crap about the opposition's position if they conduct themselves like an ass as well. So in conclusion, this post is directed to both sides!

i don't believe anyone should be forced to die for a cause they belive to be morally wrong, if America decided to exterminate every Swede on earth would you go and fight and die for them? :uh:

when you say that if there is a draft and you dont want to go, you're what? a traitor or something? you should leave the country and never come back? like you cant be against a war and still live here? everyone in this country should have the same opionion as you or they should leave?
and now its international security. the call of the righteous men.

See Venom, doesn't that seem absurd? No offense buddy, but that's what your ideas are summed up into from the casual reader. And if you honestly believe that is right, then maybe you should check out communism, that might be perfect for ya.

I don't think his point is that you should leave if you don't agree with the war. But it is your duty to serve your country. It is like when you are summoned for jury duty. You are required to do it (unless you find a loop hole and get out of it). As a citizen of this country, it is your job to help make it better. That is also why you pay taxes and vote. Sure, you can disagree with the war, but if you were to be drafted, it is your duty to go. It may not seem fair, but you can't reap benefits without paying your dues.

You know Corey, if "Venom" would have said this in the beginning, this would be a normal thread. But I still don't like how the draft works. I would join the air force if talk of the draft ever seriously came up anyway. If I have to go to war, I might as well join the air force, the mechanics don't get called into war.

but we're not talking about someone that doesn't want to go to war because they don't want to fight, we're talking about people that think it is morally wrong, if you believe it to be morally wrong you don't think your bettering the country, and any person with strong morals can't live with knowing they helped in something that sickened them, i'm against the war but if it's going to happen it's going to happen, but NO ONE that thinks it to be morally wrong to kill for these reasons or kill at all for that matter should not be forced to fight, it causes people to have to pick between their morals and they're country, and no patriot should have to do that, but in th end your views of right and wrong should always come first, if it doesn't that how evils happen EX Holocaust

I agree with you guys. I'm not too fond of a draft myself. I think for WWII, it was pretty much necessary however. The draft is dead right now, and there is serious doubt that it would ever come back unless something as serious as WWII occurred again. I don't think you will see a draft for Operation Iraqi Freedom. I find it highly unlikely at least.

Alan if you actually read what I posted rather than just expecting me to be attacking you you would have known (as Corey did) that thats exactly what I meant. I NEVER said that if you disagreed with the war that you had to leave. I said that it was your duty to serve and if you avoided it you would goto jail. I then proceeded to say that if you didn't like those options then you better change citizenships now just in case. Please read my posts rather than jumping to attack because you think it must be an attack.

Read your post again. Go at it with an open mind, read it, and take some time to let it sink in. Then tell me that those words don't seem a harsh and confrontational. Face it, the way it came off makes it seem like you were looking to piss me off. I am not saying that was your original intention, I am just saying that the words came off in a confontational way, and I reacted the way I did.
