I suggest John Mayer, but you've probably made up your mind about him already.

also if you're into indie, you should check out www.sittsermusic.com and give them a listen... they have a new album which you can hear on www.cdstreet.com which absolutely fucking rocks.

I second that one. "Absolution" is a fantastic album.

Just to make sure you got some good Magnetic Fields vibes, here's some specific songs.

When My Boy Walks Down The Street, Washington DC, Long-Forgotten Fairytale, Kiss Me Like You Mean It, Poppa Was A Rodeo, Asleep And Dreaming

They're all soooo good!
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

Are you talking about the band Of Montreal?

Well, if you think about it, it doesn't always have to be along the same lines as of what one person listens to.

Music preferences can change if introduced into certain bands. I was all into punk before I got banned, then I come back and I'm all about folk music and indie rock. It just takes a particular cd or two to make you realize what's out there, ya know? Without Neutral Milk Hotel and their weird music, I would probably still be all about bands like Alkaline Trio, but because I just picked up a cd I heard was good, I like a whole new kind of music.

Finally!!! I knew you'd come around!

Even if this is a thread for Rob checking out new music, I checked out Raindance on themusic.uk.com . I really liked the tunes and the instrumentals, but there was something about the person's voice that just didn't work for me. I was like "I like this song" but my ears were like "no you don't, sorry" and then I was like "Damn."

Ok, I know there are many lovers of this man, and many haters of this man here... however I must bring this up. I'm pretty sure i haven't seen you floating around the thread dedicated to him here, so...

MATTHEW GOOD

Honestly, Before I knew of this man, I was truly 100% dedicated to the first four cds of OLP. I thought there was nothing better out there. Then about a year ago I finally got to downloading his song "Load Me Up" after hearing Anti-pop i think maybe on Much Music (I'm American, and they used to have MM down here, but then it changed into MMUSA and now it's Fuse, which is pretty crappy, but anyways...). At first I wasn't wild about it, so if you've only hear a few of the songs and haven't been impressed, give it another chance. After a little while of listening I began to really like, which got me to downloading more of his more famous songs (Hello TimeBomb, etc). I then became really really impressed. A few months later I decided to begin to study him like I had with OLP (meaning see where he came from, see all the songs and album he had made). It was then that I got obsessed. My computer now holds every studio version of a Matthew Good (Band) song available to the public, many live songs, and all of his videos available to the public. So yeah, I'd say this guy is obsession worthy. I know how you feel about wanting to find a band like that. Hopefully this guy can do that for you.

Songs To Start With:
Load me Up
Hello Timebomb
Deep Six
Everything Is Automatic
The Future Is X-rated
Antipop
Carmelina
Tripoli

Songs To Get Into A Little Later:
Apparitions
Man Of Action
Under The Influence
Prime Time Deliverance
A Boy And His Machine Gun
Running From Home
Suburbia
I, The Throw Away

Songs To Listen To After That:
The Rat Who Would Be King
Sort Of A Protest Song
Avalanche
While We Were Hunting Rabbits
House Of Smoke And Mirrors

As for the new album... i don't know. You might appreciate it more if you wait, but you might like it if you start up with it. So, do what you want with his new cd.

Anyways as for other band you might want to try:

Mars Volta
Idlewild
Finger Eleven (I recommend older stuff)

and that's all i can think of right now
THERE'S TOO MANY OF US THAT DON'T WANT TO FIGHT IT

Thanks to everyone who's suggested music. I've been looking up a lot of it, and some of it is cool.

Everyone keep throwing out artists and essential songs for everyone to try.

And though the hum and sway gets me down
, I'll find the way to peace and openness.
