Being in the Canadian wilderness was a ton of fun and I promise to send picks. But right now I have to pack again and leave for more adventures down south in Florida. I promise to give full accounts and pics when I return. Bye!

i mean
i came here before my family moved here and i thought (other than the magic kingdom but thats different) the state as a whole was really overrated :lol:

back again for 5 minutes.

Haven't been to Florida yet. I was in Wisconsin, which was still fun. Sort of.

I still don't have any pictures, but I should as soon as I'm back from Florida.

Being in Canada was a great experience. I had a lot of fun with the guys I was with. One of them looked like Jer and reminded me very much of Jer. As soon as it's on disk it will be one of the first pics on this board.

The trip started in the trailer park of a small town called Ignace, north of Atikokan and west of Thunder Bay. The first night was very cold. 46 degrees. We met an old man the next morning who said that in his 46 years of living in Ignace, the only time it was colder in the summer was when it snowed on July 4th one year. :O

After that we didn't see any sign of society or people for another 10 days. It rained every day for the first week of the trip, and it was very cold, but we still had lots of fun. On the 3rd day, we arrived at White Otter Lake and visited the White Otter Castle. This is a four story Mansion built in the middle of no where at the start of the 20th century. It was not built by a company or family, but one determined nut who was tired of living in a shack. For the CMers who live near Thunder Bay, check this place out! From there we went on to Atikokan, bushwhacking many a portage. One day, we did a mile portage along a Railroad, a power cut, and some random woods. It was fun!
Around day 10, we briefly arrived at Atikokan to get our permit for Quetico Provincial park and headed back out. In the Quetico there are more official portages than in the Crown Lands. The portages are also better maintained. For example, where there should be a bridge in the crown lands, there is just remnants of a bridge floating about in a deep rocky stream. This is not the case in the Quetico! The quetico was very beautiful. Motorboats are not allowed, and pieces of it looked like the rainforest.
We kept on heading south, and Around day 15, we hit the international border. There we had a taste of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, which is the US equivalent of the Quetico. The portages there are so well maintained, they are almost too easy.

They might as well have moving walkways they're so easy.
We kept on following the border east, until we arrived at the pidgeon river, and then the Grand Portage. The grand portage was commonly used by british and french trappers.
It is 8.5 miles.
We finished it in 5 hours. One of the kids in our group carried a canoe the whole way. Quite a feat. There, our bodies collapsed from exhaustion on the beautiful shores of Lake Superior, and our 21 day trip came to a close. I had an amazing time and made some good friends.
