I should have explained that poison bit a little better. A poison is any substance that can harm you. That means anything you (or someone else) put in your body.

I just think that there a lot of great things in reality to explore, and that drugs/alcohol are like a cop-out. It's like giving up and saying "I can't take it, give me something that'll screw up my synapses for a while so I don't know my life sucks right now." I've said in the past that it's like pulling a veil over reality. If you need to get away from the stresses of life, there are a lot of better ways that don't have a chance to harm you, won't cause problems in your life, and will leave you feeling good in the long run, rather than the short term high.

No offense Rob but you need to realize not everyone uses drugs/alcohol as an escape. I will admit I have used it as an escape before, but 99% of the time I do it simply because I enjoy it and I like it. There's lots of things in reality to explore sure, I can say the same thing about doing drugs or drinking .. some people enjoy exploring the world of drugs and alcohol. It can work both ways. There's a whole new world out there for you to explore when you're high or drunk.

yes, alcohol is "poison" but so is caffeine. :nod:

personally, i think social drinking is fine but the problem is when you drink everyday or put yourself at risk when you drink. when i drink, i drink with friends in their house. and i have never gotten totally obliterated. i see no point in that whatsoever.

You continue to use the argument that drinking/drugs are fun. Well sure they are but that does that justify doing them? Driving extremely fast is fun but your endangering others at the same time. It can be the same way with drugs. Even if your careful about it the risk is still there. I'm not talking about the physical either. When your in that "other world" the choices you make are influenced by the drug.

there's a risk to everything though

ok yes speeding is fun but dangerous. because you put other people at risk
drinking is also dangerous but if you do it in your own house or somebody else's house, you are only putting yourself at risk. and if you drink moderately the risk is not very high

Life is a risk. We're not a bunch of punk kids out for a high .. we don't endanger others when we drink or do drugs. I'm not trying to justify anything, keep that in mind. I'm just providing a reason for why I personally do what I do.

weed is different than acid or heroin or whatever too

i mean yeah if you're on acid maybe you would decide that you want to go run in traffic or speed or something that would endanger others, but i don't think that weed is that heavy of a drug that you would make a decision that would injure somebody else

Ok sure, lets say that weed doesnt effect your mind set to the point where your actions change. But weed can lead to drugs that will. I'm not saying that every kid who smokes up weed will eventually go to cocaine or any other harder drug but the chances are far greater when compared to someone who's never taken weed.

Sure if you drink excessively you're going to do stupid things and put others at risk, having a few drinks with friends at someone's house, or sitting around on a couch watching a movie while on ecstasy (which is what we do) also isn't harming anybody else. We keep ourselves in control, we moderate what we do .. if you do too much of it, yes you won't be thinking clearly .. don't let it get that far then. I've never once been that fucked up (pardon my language) where I couldn't control myself or my actions.

I'm sorry you and your friends have had bad experiences, but don't assume that's how everyone will react or that's what will happen to everyone.

Well, I'm not the sort of person that's going to sit on my ass and think "what if" just in case something bad does happen when I decide to try something new. Otherwise I might as well just live in a bubble and never leave my house just in case I get hit by a car when I walk to work in the morning. Something bad could happen anywhere, anytime .. whether you're on drugs or completely sober. That's like living your life in fear.

My friends were comming home from a party. Each had a few drinks. Justin the driver thought he was sober enough to drive. They decided to have a little fun by speeding down Lenor ( a straight street in saskatoon, that slowly curves out). He slid a little, hit a parked car and hasnt been back to school since. The crash happened right before Christmas break. Everyone else in the car was taken to hospital with minor injures. Broken legs, ect.

well see for me i would never get in a car with anybody who has had a few drinks. and i would hope that none of my friends would drive if they had a few drinks.

i drink at school and everybody walks home or takes a cab. if too drunk i would just spend the night wherever i was
