I had no serious problems without electricity, except for the lack of light. It's hard to write songs in darkness, ya know? It was fun, I got to write my first song by candlelight. That has to boost my emo street cred about 50%. That or I am turning into the male Emily Dickinson. I swear, I am not going to carry a huge rock out to the sea and drown myself. I promise.

Of course not. There's much easier ways to do that, now adays.

But the idea of that huge chunk of the world without electricity. Finding out how extremely dependant we are. People being shoved back in time to before our electric wonders. Mankind (temporarily) completely shut down by the very things we birthed. Mmm... Sweet, sweet irony.
Oh, i agree...I love it when things happen to make the world remotely interesting. I loved thinking that all of Ontario was in the dark, or scrounging (sp?) around for flashlights/candles, trying to survive without they're oh so precious tv/computer etc. etc. I wish it had lasted a bit longer so it could actually make some impact...

Meh .. it wasn't even that bad .. parts of Ontario still had power .. it would have been more interesting if ALL of Ontario was left in the dark .. and it was only for a matter of hours so I really didn't get a chance to miss anything.
Ah well .. still funny to see people scrambling around ..

the black out sucked. i was home all alone. matt was stranded downtown, my parents were at the cottage, and my neighbours were on vacation. so i was sitting all alone in the dark for almost 12 hours. and i couldn't open my windows cause i was scared of burglers and my alarm system wasn't working, and then i was scared i was going to burn the house down with all my candles. it was no fun. and i had no food to eat either.
and after the power came back on, my computer wouldn't work, but i finally managed to get it running. and i still had to go to work today. all the other stores in the mall were closed except good old sport mart. and we were really busy too. gad damn people.

Methinks there will be a baby boom from one night of no power.
Darkness, candle lights, no interruptions. Do the math!

There aren't any lights to dim.

You can't dim candlelight.

People stuck in elevators...

I would personally hate being stuck in an elevator. It would freak me out. I couldn't stand being in that little space for that long. But, I think being stuck in the subway would suck even worse because there is more people and you are underground.

the subway almost made it into victoria park station yesturday.. well it appeared to be 1 or 2 cars atleast
it was quite comical since thats one of the raised stations
so no one had to trudge thru the dark and shit
as for the power here..
we lost it at 4.. got it back around 2's today for 1 freakin hour.. and then lost it again till about 8 hours ago..
i took the bus today to my friends place since she atleast has bbq's
i cant have em on my balcony of my apt so for food lastnight we were fucked heh.. it sucked ass..
ah well
i survived
im fed now
i'll have a fan so i can sleep tonight
i was up till 5 am reading "all quiet on the western front" by candle light since i cant sleep w/o a fan.. i eventually put the book down and gave up on hoping for the power to come back heh
im kinda worried about the whole garbage pickup situation since some areas already smell like ass and if they dont pick em up asap its only gonna get worst...
kinda like last summer w/ the garbage folks strike.. china town and little india absolutely reeked.. (and i dont mean that in anything remotely resembling derogatory)
oh.. and one last thing..
joey.. where did you hear about the florida thing? cuz my parents never mentioned that
they were my main sources of info for the most part since i was trying to conserve batteries for my cd player heh
Dad: "burlington got power"
me: "damn them"
him: "huh? why damn them?"
me: "im freakin hot and THAT is why i left bloody florida"
him: "oh yeah.. well whatever.. i'll call you later so your cell doesnt die"
me: "okay"

we didn't get power until 9 this morning. so HAH.
and i was so incredibly bored. most of my stuff is packed away, in a far away land, because we're moving in about a week. so i had ONE book.... that i have read many times, because it's my favorite. and some magazines i've read a million times. but man, it sucked. my flashlight sucked ass and didn't do much good at all. the only REAL food i ate was on Thursday night, when my mom got chicken, corn & potatos on the barbeque... lol. since then, ive just been scrounging the cupboards. oh well.
i love electricity

this blackout hit just as we got to Loyalist College. it totally ruined our last night! first there was no dinner, then they cancelled our huge end-of-course dance, then they made us go to bed at the same time as the younger courses. FUCKERS!

The blackout was so boring for me. I just talked on the phone with my friends for hours. Then my mom made me have a sleeping pill and amaretto (Don't know if I spelt that right, but I don't care so meh) and I passed out on my couch because I was so tired.
